Overview

Support OMT workplan and implementation of Business Operations Strategy.

You have:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent Advanced Degree in Development, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Management, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of working experience in research, analysis or providing technical advice to government, or international development organizations.
  • Prior experience in the preparation of the UN Business Operations Strategies, country-level experience is desirable.
  • Experience with business operations report under the UN Development System reform is desirable.
  • Experience coordinating joint projects or inter-agency support (UN Agencies or International NGOs) is desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Result of Service

The consultant will support the implementation of the Operations Management Team (OMT) workplan including the implementation of the Business Operations Strategy (BOS) and the Common Back Office (CBO) which includes data collection, reporting, strategic communications. The consultant will also be required to promote a client-oriented and results-based working approach within the OMT Secretariat.

Duties and Responsibilities

Coordination of BOS and CBO Support the Thailand OMT co-chairs with BOS and CBO implementation to deliver on efficiency gains. This will involve the following: - Provide coordination support for the OMT to implement BOS and CBO objectives through follow-up, review, and monitoring & reporting activities. - Provide the OMT with secretariat, substantive, and logistical backstopping support to consultative meetings on Business Operations Strategies Policy and other meetings. - Provide guidance to the OMT Secretariat UN Volunteer in collaboration with the UN Resident Coordinators Office in Thailand. - Support the OMT co-chairs with the implementation of other Efficiency Agenda workstreams (CBO and Common Premises) and how an efficient local operational support contributes to better programme delivery. - Strategic communication and knowledge management products to raise awareness and connect work being done secure the buy-in from all relevant stakeholders, especially those that will lead on the various aspects of the quintet of change workstreams. - Contribute to talking points, presentations and background notes and other relevant written products concerning OMT initiatives and projects. - Ensure the participation and involvement of relevant stakeholders in the above-mentioned OMT project activities so that the process is inclusive, participatory and transparent. - Establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders (UN agencies, OMT, and others). - Mainstream usability of new systems and processes introduced within the OMT secretariat team; further create platforms/mechanisms to ease the OMT secretariat team’s day-to-day work involving coordination, monitoring, reporting and to facilitate evidence-base decision-making. - Perform other tasks as assigned.
