Organizational Setting

FAO Afghanistan is investing across all 34 provinces, in resilience reinforcing actions that focus on protecting agriculture livelihoods and local ecosystems, boosting local production of nutritious foods and cash-incomes, and safeguarding critical agriculture sectoral development gains achieved over the past couple of decades through revitalizing rural markets and economy. In 2024-2026, FAO will continue to implement emergency and longer-term, resilience-building projects and programmes in the context of the UN Strategic Framework for Afghanistan (UNSFA) and the Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) in Afghanistan. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the Supply Chain / Logistics Specialist. The Supply Chain / Logistics Specialist will be responsible for all day-to-day supervision, technical guidance, and the performance evaluation.

Technical Focus

Provide full support to the Regional Office on logistics and stock matters, ensuring that activities are implemented quickly and effectively.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Assist the Warehouse Assistant in taking delivery of all incoming materials and reconciling them with purchase orders. • Assist Warehouse Assistants in receiving stationery, office supplies, IT and security equipment, and other general goods, resolving discrepancies in received orders. • Identify damaged and cancelled items and return them to suppliers when necessary. • Under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Assistant, store goods on designated shelves and bins. • Pack goods, including stationery, office supplies, IT and security equipment, and other general goods as per the approved RO. • Under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Assistant, arrange for pickup and delivery of goods following the Release Order (RO). • Quickly escalate shortages or damages of products to the warehouse assistant and the country logistics team for resolution. • Stack and store goods on pallets and standard stacks for easy countability and proper ventilation. • Support the Warehouse Assistant in maintaining files for all inbound, outbound, and current stock transactions. • Assist the Warehouse Assistant in identifying and tagging the expendable assets within the country office. • Deliver office stationery, utilities, and any other minor shipment to Bus Stations/ Kabul Airport for regional offices or vice versa. • Collect documents from the logistics country office for delivery to suppliers at the ICON main gate and vice versa. • Ensure the warehouse is consistently clean and organized. • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the country logistics unit.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

• High school qualification or equivalent. • At least five (5) years of relevant experience • Prior experience in retail, preferably in a management position, would be advantageous; • Working knowledge (level C) of English and local languages (Pashto and/or Dari). • National of Afghanistan.
