Overview

Assist in integrating social, economic, and environmental data.

You have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related area is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in macro and micro accounting concepts is required.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic are required.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or related statistical applications.
  • Ability to work flexibly and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in national statistical concepts is desirable.

Result of Service To assist in the integration of social, economic, and environmental data. To fill in data gaps for developing indicators for society, economy, and the environment in the Arab world. The focus is on enhancing statistical data acquisition and dissemination and on showcasing user-centric analytical capabilities for capacity-building, and knowledge sharing activities.

Work Location Office (UN-House ESCWA)

Expected duration The duration of the assigned work is from 1 September 2022 to 28 February 2023 (6 Months).

Duties and Responsibilities The individual contractor will be responsible for the following tasks:

To collate large sets of quantitative and qualitative data at different scales and coverage on the Arab Region. To facilitate the design of a Regional Statistical Accounting Frame. To help with data analytics, edits, estimation, imputation, and quality control. To work as a part of a team towards the consolidation of socioeconomic, environmental and geospatial data clearinghouse.

The contractor will also be responsible for the following:

  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control on statistical databases.
  • Analyze regional, national, and subnational data.
  • Perform efficient data collation methods.
  • Collate datasets and develop statistical indicators on society, economy, and the environment.
  • Document concepts, sources and methods of data and evaluate consistencies.
  • Implement statistical edits, imputations and estimate data gaps.
  • Contribute to the development of socioeconomic and environmental indicators.
  • Produce analytical charts and storytelling infographics.

    Qualifications/special skills Competency: Good planning and organizational skills. Ability to work flexibly and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Skills: Advanced skills in Excel or related statistical applications.

Academic Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or related area is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of work experience in macro and micro accounting concepts is required. Experience in national statistical concepts is desirable.

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in English and Arabic are required.
