Overview

Provide statistical technical assistance and data analysis for humanitarian programs.

You have:

  • At least 7 years of experience in data analysis and statistical techniques.
  • A university degree in statistics, economics, applied mathematics, or a related field with significant statistical component.
  • Advance knowledge in the use of econometric tools and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, SAS).
  • Fluency in Arabic and English languages.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a multicultural environment.

Result of Service EXPECTED DELIVERABLES - Provision of statistical technical assistance to survey design, quality assurance, data Cleaning, data tabulation and analysis of small and large, complex survey datasets; - Production of statistical reports in user friendly format and presentation; - The establishment of systems and procedures for standard poverty and vulnerability measurement approaches; - Standardisation of data analysis and reporting of quarterly post-distribution monitoring exercises for food and cash assistance; - Contribute to data analysis determining social transfer programme targeting and transfer values.

Work Location Amman or Remotely

Expected duration 11 months; further extension is based on availability of funding

Duties and Responsibilities - Provide statistical technical assistance and quality assurance measures to ongoing data collection and analysis activities carried out in Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank, Syria and Gaza; - Provide statistical analysis, tabulation plans and contribute to preparation of data analysis methodologies (poverty and vulnerability); Prepare data sets for reporting and programme review purposes for humanitarian programme related surveys to be carried out in at least three fields in 2022; - Carry out additional data processing and analysis activities as per information needs for programme planning, evaluation, advocacy, reporting, poverty assessment and targeting purposes to monitor the situation of the affected respective population group; - Provide capacity building measures for interpretation and analysis of datasets as required including with regards to in-kind and cash-based transfer programming design; - Keep track of socio-economic and macro-economic data availability as far as relevant to UNRWA operations.

Qualifications/special skills Competency: - Excellent organizational skills, independent and disciplined with initiative to prioritize effectively and to maintain accountability; - Advance knowledge in the use of econometric tools and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, SAS); - An understanding of data protection principles; - Ability to work under pressure and within a team - Ability to work in multicultural environment. Skills: - Proven ability to process and analysis data of complex surveys; - Proven ability to analyze data and produce comprehensive survey reports; - Proven ability to generate poverty and vulnerability profiles;

Academic Qualifications: A university degree from an accredited educational institute in statistics, economics, applied mathematics or a related social or management science discipline with a significant statistical, quantitative analysis and research methods component.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in statistics, economics, or any relevant discipline; Experience: At least 7 years of experience in the application of knowledge as per the above primary

Language: Knowledge of Arabic & English language.

Additional Information - Remuneration will be at the G-18 daily rate level and depending on the qualifications and experience of the consultant, and no other benefits except for travel related expenses; - One and a half day annual leave per month. - The consultant may work remotely and can be based in Amman at the Relief and Social Services Department, UNRWA headquarters.
