Overview

Provide services and meaningful information on staff welfare issues

You have:

  • Fluency in both written and spoken English is required
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience, at least two in a multicultural setting
  • Education: Diploma/Certificate in related fields such as social sciences, humanities, or counselling
  • Training in welfare related activities is an advantage

Result of Service Provides services and meaningful information on staff welfare issues to all categories of staff

Work Location Mogadishu

Expected duration The expected duration for this position is for six months

Duties and Responsibilities Assist in assessing, identifying and monitoring the sources of stress and stress levels of UN personnel in Somalia. - Recommend welfare approaches to reduce stress levels among staff. - Organize welfare events to improve opportunities for safe recreational activities. - Create and develop a generic menu of welfare and recreation programs for regional offices including training, exercise classes, cultural and social events, etc. - Travel periodically to regional offices in Somalia such as South Somalia, Somaliland and Puntland where welfare activities are required. - Increase staff awareness and information about social and recreational opportunities available to them in the mission area by developing informational resources in all areas in Somalia where UNSOS/UNSOM staff are deployed. - Establish and oversee the daily functioning of welfare equipment and organize maintenance as needed; and maintain exercises, sports, and recreational facilities for eligible UN personnel. - Develop a virtual welfare library and supervise the arrangement appropriate materials. - Liaise with other UN agencies on virtual social, cultural and global events or activities. - Monitor implementation of welfare and stress management programs and report on results, progress and obstacles. - Collect and submit statistics on activities, participation in events, and contacts with staff members, etc. - Perform other related duties as assigned.

Client Orientation: -Establishes and maintains productive partnerships with clients by gaining their trust and respect - Identifies clients’ needs and matches them to appropriate solutions -Keeps clients informed of progress or setbacks in projects.

Academic Qualifications: Education: Diploma/Certificate and experience in related fields. A minor degree or training certificates in social sciences, humanities, counselling, sports, logistics, emergency response Training in welfare related activities is an advantage. Experience: Experience: Eight (8) years of experience, at least two of which must be working in a multicultural setting. Language: Language: Fluency in both written and spoken English is required
