Result of Service The Staff Counsellor will support the Regional Staff Counsellor.

Work Location home based

Expected duration The proposed candidate will be engaged as soon as possible and until 30 June 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities Under the technical supervision of the CISMU Regional Stress Counselor and the administrative supervision of the OIC Central Service (or his/her delegate), the Counselor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the performance of the following duties:

1. Provide adequate Counseling Services within the mission areas (Brindisi and Valencia). 2. Perform individual assessments in the case of individual staff members experiencing difficulty coping and/or presenting mental health-related symptoms or syndromes. 3. Advise the Regional Staff Counselor and other Personnel Officers, as necessary, on individual cases where an identified problem is likely to have professional, vocational and/or counseling effect (e.g. work-related problem due to a psychological problem, conflict resolution, needoriented medication, etc); 4. Advise Chiefs of Section upon request, with the aim at improving the working atmosphere in their Section and resolving problems of a work-related or personal nature that adversely affect job performance and productivity. 5. Provide psychosocial support after a critical incident stress (e.g. individual and/or group)and refer to mental health professionals whenever and wherever there is a need for it. 6. Assure in conjunction with the Medical Services, a continuum of services (referral, shortterm supportive intervention) to individual staff members who have HIV/AIDS or to those staff members suffering from other serious diseases or illnesses. 7. Establish a link and liaise with the members of the Staff Welfare Committee and members in order to develop programmes designed to improve the quality of life of staff members within the mission area. 8. Provide training sessions on “crisis and stress management” and “conflict resolution” or any other as needed. 9. Monitor environmental factors that could lead to stress, with particular focus on stress related to critical incidents including emergency and crisis situations, with respect to civilian staff members of the mission. 10. develop, organize and implement a stress management programme for such staff. 11. Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: Master degree in Clinical Psychology or psychiatry is required.

Registered at the professional association is required. Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience is required, of which 3 at the international level. Experience in Employees Assistance Programme or Organizational Intervention would be an asset. Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Italian and Spanish is also required. Knowledge of other official UN languages is an asset.
