Key Responsibilities:

STAFF AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position will provide leadership and management oversight in the developing and leading talent management initiatives designed to build WVDF’s leadership pipeline and cultivate a high-performance culture with focus on of leadership and talent development, succession planning, performance management and staff capacity building. This aims to build excellence in people and partner with every department/project individual staff, teams/departments in fulfilling their roles and functions as well as in sustaining WV’s Vision, Mission, Core Values and Our Promise strategy and WVDF strategy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategy Development & Planning

  • Develop capacity building and leadership development plans align with the WVDF and partnership learning and development framework/guide.
  • Design and develop programs that ensure retention of competent and committed staff and leaders.
  • Develop or contextualize policies, guidelines, systems for capacity building and leadership development that is aligned with WV VMV and strategy.
  • Ensure availability of approved budget for capacity building and leadership programs especially for the organizational priority competency (OCP)

2. Leadership and Talent Development

  • Manages the execution of strategic leadership and talent development in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate leaders to enhance their people management competencies ensuring not only increased compliance to basics (performance management, recruitment, talent management) but their ownership.
  • Develop leaders’ capacity in managing and developing people including capacity for change management using WV’s 4 domains of leadership with emphasis on capabilities which ensure leaders are equipped to lead a faith-based ministry strategy.
  • Ensure accountability for leadership and Talent Management across all levels, monitor and report progress.
  • Manage and track development plans of talents.

3. Staff Capacity Building/Performance Management

  • Provide oversight to the implementation of staff capacity building strategy.
  • Position performance management as a major platform to reinforce the organization’s accountability culture.
  • Implement WV programs and/or support the development of learning platform to live out WV Vision, Mission, Core Values and Our Promise strategy.
  • Facilitate program capacity building initiatives.

4. Staff care and well-being

  • Develop a consolidated staff care and well-being strategy for the organization align with the WVDF policies and guidelines and the partnership strategies and framework
  • Design an over-all spiritual, psychological and critical stress and well-being management annual activities for staff and leaders of WVDF in collaboration with concerned point persons.
  • Ensure over-all facilitation of regular and timely well-being support (individual or group interventions) together with the peer support team of the organization.

5. Resource Acquisition & Management

  • Network with Partnership entities and other funding resources to source funds for capacity building and leadership development initiatives/programs.
  • Collaborate with RD to explore potential resource opportunities for capacity building.

6. Accountability

  • Enhance use of integrated data and analytics to have a better picture of ‘people’ in the organization and for decision making.
  • Establish measures of effectiveness of CB and LD/TM programs

7. Networking & Coordination

  • Liaise and collaborate with SLT and point of contacts in the Region and Partnership level on capacity building, change management and leadership initiatives
  • Network with learning/education institutions for outsourcing opportunities.

8. Management and Leadership of Direct Report

  • Build capacity of Direct Report (L&D Specialist) to deliver quality service through coaching/mentoring.
  • Facilitate and lead the spiritual nurture for the Learning Team
  • Implement partnering for performance with direct report.

9. Personal Learning & development

  • Develop and implement own Development Plan.

10. Organizational and Partnership Requirements

  • Participate in team, organizational or partnership meetings, compliance and requirements/mandates.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in the Social Sciences, Psychology or related field; certification in HRD, Leadership or Organizational Development preferred; Master's Degree would be an advantage.

  • Minimum of 5-year experience in human resource management, organization effectiveness, training and development or leadership development

  • Experience in designing, developing and implementing learning and development initiatives using blended learning approach and measuring impact.

  • Excellent understanding of poverty and development and experience in working in an INGO context

  • Strong interpersonal skills, customer/client orientation and relationship management skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with creative problem-solving skills.

  • Has excellent communication skills (oral and written) and does effective presentations.

  • Passionate about investing in and developing people.

  • Prior experience managing direct reports is preferred.

  • A proven record of developing people in a cross-cultural setting and initiating and implementing organizational change.

  • Previous consulting experience and demonstrated track record of influencing and advising at all levels.

  • Competencies in talent management.

  • A mature and committed Christian who can lead Spiritual Nurture activities.

This position will require local travel.
