You have:

  • Fluency in another language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish is preferred but not required.

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals with various levels of experience to build a competitive pool of ready-to-hire staff and administrative assistant across the Fund.

As a staff assistant, you will:

  • Proofread and format long reports, research papers, and correspondence following the IMF style guide;
  • Manage information flow and action items (monitor review box, assign documents for review to economists, prepare documents for circulation to Management and the Board, etc.).
  • Organize hybrid meetings, conferences, and/or seminars at headquarters and overseas;
  • Handle the logistics of virtual and in-person official travel or “missions”, including travel authorizations, travel arrangements, security clearances, expense reports, etc.;
  • Manage multiple calendars;
  • Provide general office support and event planning.

Qualifications

You must reside in the local Washington, D.C. area to be considered for staff assistant positions. You should be able to provide first-class administrative support, be detail-oriented, and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills. You should have the ability to handle multiple tasks and switch gears at a short notice in a fast-paced environment, and communicate with officials and staff at all levels.

In addition, we are looking for:

  • A bachelor's degree or a high school diploma with a minimum of two years' (cumulative full-time) work experience in a similar administrative capacity;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Excellent technical skills;
  • Excellent English grammar, writing, and proofreading skills;
  • Ability to collate, proofread, and format long documents following a specific style guide;
  • Fluency in another language such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish is preferred but not required.

Selection process

The successful completion of an online assessment is required for all staff/administrative assistants positions at the Fund.

The staff assistant pipeline is the main point of entry for staff and administrative assistants at the Fund. Successful candidates will be offered contractual appointments giving them the opportunity to build expertise in the Fund-specific processes, making them competitive for term-staff positions. Candidates who meet the pre-selection criteria will be invited for an online assessment which normally takes approximately 50 minutes to complete (psychometric assessment, MS Word simulation, and Windows). Please make sure to complete the assessment within 10 days or receiving the invitation. After successful completion of the assessment, you will be invited to a virtual preliminary interview. Based on the results of the interview, your file will be placed in the pipeline of staff assistants. Once your file is in this pipeline, you will be considered for any external staff assistant positions, even those that are not advertised. Your file will be active for one year and you will not need to reapply during this time frame.
