Overview

Assist with casework for immigrant youth and families

You have:

  • Must pass a background check
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Minimum commitment of 15 hours per week for a minimum of 3 consecutive months
  • Submit intern hours on volunteer dashboard

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

- The intern will gain knowledge of solution-oriented, strengths-based care coordination for immigrant families.

- The intern will develop skills in trauma-informed, client-centered care.

- The intern will develop skills in mapping community assets and resources.

- The intern will develop skills in client empowerment and advocacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide assistance to caseworkers serving children and their families by helping them with school enrollment, public benefits applications, making referrals, and client advocacy.

- Assist with research on local community resources.

- Assist with outreach to local organizations to help establish partnerships within the community.

- Assist with managing client case notes and files

- Communicate case statuses and client concerns to supervisor, coordinate service plans with supervisor

Qualifications

- Excellent communication and writing skills

- Organized with attention to detail

- Able to work independently and under pressure

- An interest in international issues

- Strong desire to help people and enthusiasm for working in a multi-cultural setting

- Computer literacy – preferably with PC systems

- Access to internet

- Valid driver’s license, reliable access to an insured vehicle.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must pass a background check

This will be an Hybrid role.

This position will report to the Immigrant Youth Program Coordinator and Immigrant Youth Caseworker.
