This is a UNV International Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as International UN Volunteer. It is normally internationally recruited only. More about UNV International Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the RCO the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  1. Proof reading/ Editing of documents in English;

  2. Suggesting correct terminology and titles of the reports, presentations, brochures etc.;

  3. Draft press releases, statements and other materials for mass media consumption;

  4. Draft talking points for the media engagements of the UN Resident Coordinator;

  5. Draft speeches for the UN Resident Coordinator;

  6. Develop core messages and outline talking points for speechwriting assignments,

  7. Flesh these out into full speeches once approved;

  8. Research, collate and validate information to be used for all speeches;

  9. If needed, prepare slide presentations (PowerPoint) to support key speeches;

  10. Prepare talking points for media interviews, special content for physical and online publications;

  11. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

University degree in Journalism, Communications, International Relations, Visual Arts and Design, IT, Social Sciences or similar field.

Required experience:

36 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least 3 years of experience related to speech writing/ editing;
  • Experience in writing stories and using social media;

  • Experience in communicating and cooperating with governmental, non-governmental, donors and private agencies is an asset.

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Fluent
