Key Responsibilities:

Purpose of Position

This is a position within the Resource Acquisition and Management unit focused primarily on resource development and donor/partner relationships. The job holder will execute programme and proposal development for high value, competitive, and complex funding opportunities aligned with WV Ghana’s strategy. He or she will mobilize cross-functional proposal teams to ensure targeted input and reviews. The position will support the creation and promotion of strategic alliances with donors, multilateral agencies, and other NGOs for purposes of increasing resources for the children and communities WV serves.

Key Responsibilities

Resource Acquisition

  • Pursue resource mobilization opportunities aligned to WV Ghanas strategy and capacities from a variety of donors and Support Offices.
  • Mobilize and lead cross-functional proposal development teams with clear expectations and timelines; mobilize multi-partner proposal development team for consortium proposals.
  • Anticipate, plan for, and write proposals with high win rate.
  • Regularly review project evaluations, lessons learnt, project and other internal reports and from other NGOs and donors and apply innovations and best practices in future proposals.

Relationship Building

  • Regularly meet with, brief, and provide updates to current and prospective donor representatives formally and informally.
  • Make presentations to donor and NGO groups to share learning, promote best practices, coordinate programming, and foster alliances and consortia opportunities.
  • Represent WV Ghana in various forums as assigned by Management.
  • Research and monitor donor strategies, funding, and regulatory trends and advise Management.

Donor compliance and Project Management

  • Support Project Managers understanding and adherence to donor regulations and compliance requirements by ensuring comprehensive, detailed, and inclusive project start-up meetings.
  • Support the capacity development of programme staff in resource acquisition and management.

Field Led Monitoring and Support

  • Participate in field-level review meetings, visit field project sites, and provide hands-on support to project implementation teams as needed.

Education / Work Experience / Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Management or related discipline
  • Three (3) years hands-on experience in writing and managing high value and complex proposals for institutional donors in the context of an international agency; a track record of successful proposals.
  • Demonstrable project management skills and understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; a capable writer,
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others in and outside his or her own team.
  • Previous proposal development and management for a consortium or alliance/joint venture.
  • Experience in tenders/contracts or payment-by-results project.
  • Able to work autonomously, bear well under pressure, and remain accountable at all times.
