Overview

Contribute to the strengthening of family farmers in Brazil.

You have:

  • University degree in Agricultural Sciences, Exact Sciences or Social Sciences according to the Capes/CNPq table of areas of knowledge
  • Minimum experience of 10 (ten) years in public policies for family farming and rural development.
  • Working knowledge of English and Portuguese
  • National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit
  • Experience in technologies for family farming or agricultural machinery, equipment and implements
  • Specialization, master's or doctorate

Organizational Setting

UTF/BRA/089/BRA

The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.

Reporting Lines

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.

Technical Focus

To carry out studies with a view to technically subsidizing the CGPI/DINOV/SAF/MDA, in the process of development/adaptation of machinery, equipment and agricultural implements aimed at family farming, also preparing projects and proposals for development/adaptation for the different regions of the country, based on the instruments and possibilities currently existing for this purpose.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Elaboration of a Work Plan

• Holding face-to-face and/or virtual technical meetings with the supervision of the project whenever necessary;

• Techincal participation in meetings and strategic activities related to the context of the incumbent’s work, by indication of the coordination of the project supervision;

• Survey and systematization of the main public policies and instruments for the technological development of innovations in the sector of agricultural machinery, equipment and implements used or that can be used for family farming;

• Support the technical improvement of information on the main organizations/companies that develop agricultural machinery, equipment and implements aimed at family farming, identifying companies and products produced by small factories and that are invisible in the market;

• Support the preparation of technical documents proposing the development of machinery, equipment and implements aimed at family farming.

• Survey of information in the reports of the Regional Seminars on Machinery, Equipment and Implements, held in 2024, on the Information Platform on Machinery, Equipment and Implements for Family Farming (under construction by Embrapa) for the realization of the proposed products.

• Data collection and report elaboration activities will be conducted using secondary data sources provided by the supervisor.
