Specialist in Advising and Capacity Building on Data Analytics
Result of Service The Specialist will serve as trusted advisor and capacity builder, collaborating closely with missions to identify their unique needs, devise effective implementation strategies, and establish robust guidelines. The Specialist provide comprehensive training to ensure that the DPET Evaluation Team possesses the requisite knowledge and skillset to proficiently manage the Comprehensive Planning and Performance Assessment System (CPAS) data ecosystem. Ultimately, the services culminate in empowering missions with the tools and expertise needed to maximize the effectiveness of CPAS, thereby enhancing their overall performance and impact.

Duties and Responsibilities The temporary job opening is from 1 Dec 2023 to 31 March 2024. The consultant will be home-based. The consultancy position is located in the Evaluation Team within the Policy, Evaluation and Training Division (DPET) of the Department of Peace Operations (DPO). The consultant is under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Evaluation Team.
Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Information Systems / Technology or related field. A minimum of five years of experience in data management, data visualization, data-related monitoring and evaluations programs or related technical innovation work; - Experience working and liaising closely with clients, using a user-centric design process is required; - Knowledge of MS Power BI, Tableau, Shiny, or other visualization and dashboard creation programs is required. Knowledge of UN DPO or other peacekeeping operations is preferred.
Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the consultancy position advertised, fluency in English is required.
