This position is situated within the Solutions Centre and Support Section of UNICEF's Information Communication and Technology Division (ICTD). The centre provides adequate, user-friendly, and modern business solutions to UNICEF’s different departments and stakeholders as well as provides guidance, governance, and procedures to several enterprise processes such as data collection, program monitoring, digital tools and platforms, and business process optimization throughout the organization.

ICTD has the responsibility of effectively supporting multiple Salesforce capabilities, including the platforms supporting the Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES), the UNISON platform, the Emerging Markets platform and the India platform.

Since 2015 UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Division has been using UNISON (on the Salesforce platform) to manage the corporate engagement including managing the due diligence screening process for engagement with business. UNISON is now undergoing major enhancement to establish the platform as single enterprise corporate platform to manage all Public and Private Sector relationships and build additional modules such as Fund Remittance Management, Contribution In-Kind, and Integration with Vision.

How can you make a difference?

Under the direct supervision of the CRM Technical Product Owner, the Functional Consultant will be responsible for leading the business analysis, design and development of UNISON Platform. You will bring your deep understanding of Salesforce technology stack and associated business process, and be a strong advocate of process standardization and simplification of technology while rationalizing and deploying new technologies that drive business value realizations.

You will be involved in all phases of project implementation: Business Discovery, Pre-implementation, Implementation and Post Deployment. You will provide your expertise in business analysis, advanced Apex programming, lightning frameworks/components, integration with external application etc.

The incumbent will closely collaborate with business process experts, domain architects, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical solutions adhere to approved reference architecture and will be engaged in code and technical design review of solution implementation. As a member of the global DevOps team, you will be providing advance support in debugging complex platform issues and will be involved in global application delivery and enhancement. The incumbent should ensure adherence to corporate information security and data privacy standards. As a member of the CRM Architecture forum, you will ensure alignment between enterprise architecture and reference architecture.

Demonstrating strong ability, effectively self-managing priorities, and being able to collaborate effectively between end users and the delivery team will help you succeed in the role. You are a detail-oriented individual with the ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts, technologies and have a continuous improvement mindset. In addition, the incumbent must be able to lead a technical team as well as maintain excellent relationships with the business teams and our service providers.

Scope of Work

• Develop deep understanding of Salesforce technology stack and lead end to end delivery of Salesforce project; • Understand requirements from business, translate into design and build applications following salesforce best practices and UNICEF standards; • Provide consistent and regular feedback in a structured format on architectural and implementation issues; • Enforce the processes and guidelines as agreed with different parties. Ensure the team applies the governance consistently and accurately. e.g., user story maintenance in DevOps, release processes, quality assurance processes; • Apply full stack approach to solution design through planning, testing, implementing, deploying and operations of solutions; • Build high quality applications championing the modular design, reusable components, separation of concern, high cohesion and loose coupling architecture; • Work with the wider UNICEF technical team and external vendors on integration requirements and develop applications that connect to multiple applications; • Document the technical design and implementation details. Contribute in the development of training materials and content and conduct user training sessions and support user adoption; • Collaborate with QA team to ensure the build is thoroughly tested each new release and enhancement; • Contribute in setting up architectural and technical standards by keeping abreast of technological trends and Salesforce new releases; • Collaborate with team for code review and unit testing. Manage post deployment activity such as knowledge transfer, process documentation and application bug fixes; • Own and resolve Tier 2/3 production issues (identifying, troubleshooting and resolving complex platform); • Lead the modern software development lifecycle best practices including iterative and incremental development, delivering working software frequently with attention to technical excellence; • Be part of global DevOps team and participate in agile delivery; • Others task as required to support UNICEF Salesforce projects and initiatives.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Bachelor's Degree in information technology or related field is required.

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in an international development context is required as elaborated below:

• Deep understanding of the Salesforce platform (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and Community cloud);

• 5 or more years of experience in Salesforce platform as Lead Developer and/or solution architect in building applications using Lightning components, APEX, Visualforce and UI related coding technologies, Salesforce.com Web Services APIs - Force.com SOAP and REST-based Web Service APIs, the Bulk API, and the Metadata API;

• Experience of working large corporate B2B CRM Platform related to partnership/fundraising;

• Experience in deployments and migrations tools (Salesforce DX, CI/CD, Force.com IDE, Eclipse, ANT, Gearset, CumulusCI);

• Industry qualifications in Salesforce platform (Salesforce Certified Business Analyst, Application/Technical Architect);

• Experience integrating Salesforce with external applications is preferred;

• Proven experience of leading workshops with business and able to document and present alternative solutions;

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral;

• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences;

• Experience working with cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical professionals;

• Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a fast-paced problem-solving environment and flexibility and agility to adapt to changing and evolving business requirements and objectives.

• Developing country work experience or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Duration and Location

This consultancy will be off-site for a period of 11.5 months.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract is valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
