Job Title: Social Worker
Location: Montserrado, Margibi, Maryland – Liberia Reports to: Team Lead, EFECT Project Contract Type: Full-Time (12-month fixed-term contract)
About Street Child International Liberia
Street Child International Liberia is implementing a nationwide four-year Education For Every Child Today (EFECT) project, launched in 2022. This initiative aims to enrol and retain 13,500 highly vulnerable primary school-aged children in education through a child-centred approach that tackles social, economic, infrastructural, and instructional barriers.
Job Summary
As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in identifying and supporting vulnerable children across urban and peri-urban communities in Liberia. Your core focus will be increasing awareness and access to education for out-of-school children (OOSC) through direct community engagement, psychosocial support, and ongoing case management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support community mapping to identify wards/communities with high numbers of OOSC
- Assist in beneficiary identification using defined criteria
- Provide psychosocial counselling to children and families to overcome barriers to school enrolment and retention
- Engage caregivers to promote school enrolment for OOSC
- Develop and manage individual case files for identified children
- Ensure adherence to Street Child’s safeguarding and child protection policies
- Accurately collect and report data on beneficiaries
- Administer structured questionnaires ethically and maintain confidentiality
- Conduct regular follow-up visits to schools, homes, and project sites
- Submit timely and quality reports and work plans to the Project Manager
- Contribute to the preparation of donor and internal narrative reports
- Perform other duties as reasonably required by the project

- Degree in Social Work or significant relevant experience in a similar role

- Ability to work independently and show initiative
- Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills
- Competency in collecting and documenting stories for learning and advocacy
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in social work or community development roles
- Experience with community mobilization and working with vulnerable populations
- Motorbike riding skills with a valid license
- Familiarity with gender equality, inclusive education, and child safeguarding approaches
