You have:

  • Post-graduate University Degree in Knowledge Management, Management, Communication, International Development, Social Science, or related area.
  • 8 years of previous knowledge management and/or communications experience working in a reputable organization/institution, required.
  • Experience with designing and facilitating knowledge management processes and peer learning exchanges collaboration platforms, and community discussions.
  • Proven experience in drafting knowledge management materials in a style and structure appropriate for diverse audiences and institutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of knowledge management technology, social networking, and peer-to-peer collaboration tools in organizational environments.
  • Excellent analytical skills coupled with ability to translate technical language and organizational messaging into clear and compelling knowledge management products.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills adapted to technical creative writing for impact.
  • Excellent time management skills, including ability to deliver on multiple tasks and respond rapidly to emerging and new developments.
  • Experience in working and collaborating with a variety of development partners including governments, donors, UN agencies, and similar organizations.
  • Experience with managing and facilitating webinars and live streaming events, including video editing is a strong asset.
  • Excellence in all MS Office Applications (e.g., Ms Publisher) and proven experience in management of graphic design softwares.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

JOB PURPOSE

The World Food Prorgamme Kenya Country Office is providing capacity technical assistance for strengthening the shock-responsive social protection system and capacity for the Government of Kenya at the national and decentralized units’ level. The targeted support is delivered through multi-faceted streams of work and significant results have been achieved and are worth documenting to facilities systematic learning within the local and external contexts.

There is a need to systematically capture, document and manage knowledge and the sharing of good practices of Kenya’s achievement in delivering food security and nutrition services to vulnerable populations through WFP’s support on country capacity strengthening. This may inform decisions and improve effective programme delivery, by building on evidence and effective practices on the ground.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

Under the overall guidance of the Head of Country Capacity Strengthening Unit the incumbent is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Capture and document knowledge and success stories of how Government and counties deliver services to vulnerable populations, with WFP Kenya’s support on country capacity strengthening
  • Capture and document good practices and “home grown, local innovations” that have been developed and adopted by the Government/Counties to address their own food security and nutrition issues in the ASAL region.
  • Articulate WFP’s value added as partner for country capacity strengthening to the government in practical terms, building on concrete examples from the field.
  • In consultation with workstream team leaders, develop knowledge products to feature WFP’s CCS achievements within WFP and in the engagement with the Government in coordination with WFP Kenya’s donor relations and communications function.
  • Capture the perspectives of beneficiaries of WFP-supported Social Protection work on the support they receive through Kenya’s national social protection system.
  • Engage and contribute to WFP’s different knowledge management and knowledge sharing initiatives and platforms, including through WFP-brokered South-South and Triangular Cooperation

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (continued)

  • Contribute to the sharing of knowledge in multi-media and interactive formats, in close coordination with WFP Kenya’s communication function (e.g. as podcasts, data visualizations, infographics, animations, and social media platforms).
  • Support the Social Protection team to advocate for WFP’s expanding role of WFP in advancing the country’s intention of closing the hunger gap through the utilization of social protection interventions.
  • Promote creative solutions for uptake of knowledge generated in order to inform evidence-based decision-making and policy/programme formulation.
  • Participate in field missions as required and further prepare mission reports for specific audiences and focused on specific objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and updates.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
