- Experience using social media scheduling tools is required.
- Experience using design tools such as Canva, Adobe Suite, is required.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task is required.
- Previous experience with a multilateral or international/UN organization is desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in French is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. UNEP's mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UNEP's Communication Division communicates UNEP's core messages to all stakeholders and partners, raising environmental awareness and enhancing the profile of UNEP worldwide. The social media specialist reports to the Head, Social Media Unit, of UNEP’s Communication Division. The incumbent will perform the following functions: • Support the planning, development and implementation of dynamic, interactive and meaningful social media content strategies and packages for campaigns, including the year-long World Environment Day campaign, and daily community management of UNEP’s global social media channels on related issues; • Produce compelling content for UNEP’s social media channels, including X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, BlueSky, and TikTok; • Design and develop visual content assets—including social media cards, reels, and other formats—to support campaigns and day-to-day engagement across platforms; • Schedule, proofread and check social media and digital content for accuracy and timeliness; • Supports with the monitoring and moderation of social media channels, flagging risk and opportunities to deepen engagement; • Support social media editorial planning and processes with relevant colleagues managing of UNEP’s Arabic, French, Spanish, Chinese and Russian social media channels; • Monitor key indicators for UNEP's social media efforts and report on performance; • Identify new opportunities to continually improve UNEP’s presence across digital platforms and deepen engagement with targeted audiences.
