You have:

  • Proven experience in developing engaging and creative content for Instagram and TikTok.

  • Experience in social media campaign development, preferably in a humanitarian or not-for-profit environment.
  • Experience working with UNICEF or UN System is an advantage.

Contract

This is a UNV National Youth contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Youth contracts.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, UNICEF has a regional office (LAC-RO) based in Panama and 24 country offices (CO) operating in 36 countries and territories. More than ever, the new dynamics generated after the pandemic have raised high levels of reputational risk that can affect UNICEF’s mission in a highly polarized environment. Also, there has been an increased demand for digital engagement in LAC. There is historical momentum to position UNICEF as a relevant and reliable source of information/tools/experience for children and youth and unlock the potential for digital growth across the region. In line with the Regional Digital Strategy, the Volunteer will contribute to increasing its digital footprint through daily content creation and enhancing the digital capacity of all 24 Country Offices. The UNV will also support the co-creation with young people and adolescents to encourage their participation, prioritizing their perspectives in initiatives that contribute to the protection and promotion of Children's Rights. The UNV will also support the co-creation with Youth Advocates participating in Regional U-Report. Furthermore, the UNV will support the Regional Office in building the capacity of the 24 country offices in the region.

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Communication Specialist, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Support the implementation of the Regional Digital Strategy, creating daily content for all the Social Media Channels
• Developing social media packs combining key messages, graphic design, and new techniques to generate engaging content. • Adapt and translate new social media content and articles for use at Regional, Global and Country Offices channels. • Producing new and engaging multimedia materials, including videos, for Instagram and TikTok
• Co-create with adolescents and young people new and attractive multimedia materials adapt to different formats for social media. • monitor and analyze the impact of RO’s online platforms and social networks and make timely reports using qualitative and quantitative indicators. • Maintain and systematically grow UNICEF LAC-RO’s online community across all platforms. • Support other teams, divisions, and Country Offices in developing joint social media activities. • Provide technical assistance to Country Offices in their digital strategies as needed, especially in enhancing their digital storytelling and measuring qualitative and quantitative of their goals for voice, reach and engagement.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities; • Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/Expected Outputs Produce engaging content (short videos, graphics, articles, copywriting) for the social media platforms managed by the RO. · Provide general assistance to the Communication Section in the Regional Office with a special focus on: Developing social media packs combining key messages, graphic design, and new techniques to generate engaging content. · Producing new and engaging multimedia materials, including videos, for Instagram and TikTok. · Identify new opportunities to continually improve our presence across digital platforms to deepen engagement with supporters. · Support providing analytics reports and recommendations on tactics to improve UNICEF's digital presence. · Increase the number of digital supporters (visitors to the LACRO website and followers in social media channels) · Increase engagement and reach on LACRO social media platforms. · Support and development of social media packages to be shared on LACRO s social media channels and amongst UNICEF Country offices and partners.

• Genuine commitment towards the principles of voluntary engagement, which includes sol-idarity, compassion, reciprocity and self-reliance; and commitment towards the UN core values.
