We are now seeking a committed and skilled part-time consultant to help our Communication Team bring innovation and compelling digital storytelling for the UNICEF Gulf Area Office.

How can you make a difference?

Working under the supervision of the Communications Manager, in close collaboration with the colleagues from partnerships, programme and communications sections, the part-time consultant will support with the development, adaptation and roll out of quality communication material and products to reach diverse audience groups through UNICEF Gulf Area Office’s social media channels.

Main Responsibilities:

Writing, designing, adapting and publishing compelling content for digital platforms; growing UNICEF GAO’s digital community and deepening engagement across all platforms.

1-Daily Task: Produce high-quality, engaging and innovative digital communication products and materials, gathering content and adapting it to relevant audiences; Adapt multimedia assets from HQ Division of Communication and from the Regional Office for local audiences; Schedule content for posting at optimal timing. Duration of this task of the whole assignment is 75%.

Deliverable: Stories, social media posts, videos, images, infographics, photos posted to digital channels. Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok

2-Monthly task: Develop and maintain a social media calendar and content plans of content themes.

Duration of this task of the whole assignment is 10%.

Deliverable: Social media calendar crated and constantly up to date.

3-Monthly task: prepare a social media report covering results of each months, including top content, audience growth, engagement analysis, and other relevant data. Duration of this task of the whole assignment 10%.

Deliverable: Monthly reports

4-Other relevant task as required. Duration of this task of the whole assignment is 5%.

Payment Method: Monthly invoicing.

Complete submission of deliverables as per expected standard and quality as assessed by the supervisor is a prerequisite for payment of fee. UNICEF reserves the right to adjust or withhold payments for late deliverables or for deliverables not meeting expected quality.

Duration of the consultancy:

Up to 4 hours per day (afternoon time), 5 days per week (Sunday to Thursday) for 11.5 months.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

- Bachelor’s degree or relevant other education or training in communication, digital communication, new media, journalism, marketing, public relations or related fields.

- At least 2 years of related working experience, some of which should be in supporting social media engagement strategies or related fields. Candidates with a master’s level degree need only have 1 year of related work experience to qualify

- Clear understanding of social media standards and usability methods.

- Familiarity with social media monitoring tools, technologies and software.

- Knowledge of digital media, communication, marketing and public relations.

- Experience with photo and video image acquisition and editing are highly desirable.

- Fluency in English and Arabic.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
