Position Overview:

The Project Assistant, part of the Social Inclusion and Protection Sector within the Relief and Development Department (RDD), is responsible for implementing all case management steps, including protection assessments, developing case plans, and strengthening the protective environment for refugee children in Moldova. The Project Assistant ensures that children at risk are identified and receive support through documentation, assessments, action plans, direct services, referrals, and follow-ups for their caseload. The role also includes service mapping activities, maintaining a database of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with information on focus areas, locations, and INGO collaborations. The Project Assistant participates in data collection, verification, and analysis, contributing to comprehensive reports and presentations to stakeholders, ensuring coordinated and effective support for children and families.

Duties & Responsibilities:

˗ The Project Assistant will provide quality case management services to children who have experienced or are at risk of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation or are otherwise vulnerable in line with the eligibility criteria and case prioritization guide.

˗ Guide children and their families through the case management process (identification and registration, assessment, case planning, implementation of the case plan, follow-up and review, case closure) as outlined in the Standard Operation Procedures.

˗ Provide accidental psychosocial support and emotional support to children and families throughout the case management process.

˗ Conduct safe referrals to essential services as appropriate, and follow-up to ensure services provided were responsive to the needs identified within the assessment.

˗ Liaise with community members, service providers, NGO partners and government stakeholders to identify and safely refer children at risk.

˗ Maintain an up-to-date service mapping for your geographical area.

˗ Participate in inter-agency case conferences (presentation of cases and dissemination of challenges if applicable).

˗ Participate in regular case management meetings with the case management team.

˗ Prepare for and participate in regular structured individual supervision sessions, identifying challenges and areas for development.

˗ Maintain the database containing essential information for identifying these entities, including focus areas, geographical locations, and collaboration status with International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs).

˗ Conduct desk research to gather data from governmental and non-governmental sources.

˗ Collect primary data directly from CSOs.

˗ Support to identify potential areas and social and educational services are lacking/limited across Moldova with MEAL and programme teams.

Requirements:

˗ Minimum of Bachelors in Social work, Counselling Psychology, or relevant discipline.

˗ Previous work experience in community development or with an NGO (preferably in child protection).

˗ Minimum 2 years of professional experience working with children.

˗ Excellent writing, facilitation, and organizational skills.

˗ Excellent command of the English language and the local language of the affected population.

˗ Strong drive for results and ensuring timely delivery of quality products.

˗ Experience managing child protection cases in a sensitive and child friendly manner.
