Gender equality and social inclusion is one of the biggest and most persistent challenges facing Indonesia. In practice, this means the fruits of development are spread unevenly across ethnic, gender and geographic categories. Vulnerabilities and inequalities are exacerbated by geographic and environmental factors. The existing socio-economic and physical conditions of certain groups like women, children, people with disabilities, and group of minorities. Furthermore, in close collaboration with programme staff, the incumbent will perform collection, analysis and review of information, data and statistics, and project/meeting services to support programme products, projects, publications, and services. She/he will also provide technical support to the implementation of desired sustainable development outcomes and programmatic areas.

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Quality Assurance and Results (QARE) Unit, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

Programme Development and Management & Inter-Agency Coordination Support:

Supports the implementation of on-going programmatic (including on-going projects) initiatives with a specific focus on the GESI.

Supports partnership development with other UN agencies, experts, government institutions and Civil Society Organizations.

Supports QARE Unit on the monitoring and evaluation activities e.g., reviewing Project Documents, Project Assurance Reports, and others aligned with Programme and Operations Policies and Procedures.

Policy Analysis and Research and Knowledge Building Management

Engage with stakeholders and projects and conduct where required research, to capture existing good practice on GESI integration.

Supports on the advocacy and facilitation of knowledge-building management.

(minimum three months) Gender Transformative Programming, Social Inclusion, Monitoring and Evaluation, Research, Reporting, Community Engagement.

Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;

The position will be based in the capital of Jakarta, where basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods can be found in the markets, e.g.: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc. Also, many imported goods are available in Jakarta and other places throughout Indonesia. Jakarta has many good restaurants with good health standards and most guesthouses provide food.

For the transportation in Indonesia, the most used means of transportation are taxi or local bus. Mobile phone is the most dependable communication tool to be in-touch with colleagues and friends. Internet service is readily available and affordable at most apartment complexes. ATMs are everywhere in Indonesia and Western cards can usually be used to withdraw Indonesian Rupiah.
