Social Cohesion and Economic Recovery Assistant

In 2003, following the start of foreign military operations in Iraq, DRC became one of the first organisations to provide humanitarian assistance in the country and now operates in 11 governorates, including Anbar, Baghdad, Babel, Diyala, Duhok, Erbil, Karbala, Kirkuk, Najaf, Ninewa and Salah-al-Din.

Overall purpose of the role: The Social Cohesion and livelihood Assistant will support the Social Cohesion Project Manager (PM) in the implementation of the project: youth as leaders for peace. He/She will support the direct implementation of project activities managed by the DRC and he/she will provide additional support to the PM on the management of a local partnership where required. He/She will contribute to record keeping, reporting and data collection and will be required to engage in all aspects of the project to support the successful delivery of a peacebuilding and economic recovery and livelihood project in Diyala. The Social Cohesion and Livelihood Assistant will be expected to work around 20 % on the social cohesion component of the project and 80 % on Economic Recovery and Livelihoods.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Collect relevant project data including baseline, context assessments, and project evaluations including proper use and storage of data in compliance with DRC policy.
  • Contribute to the collation of data, reporting and documentation of project activities.
  • Carry out administrative and other tasks as requested by the Social Cohesion Project Manager
  • Arrange logistics in preparation of the different project activities in coordination with support staff
  • Support the project manager with the implementation of day-to-day livelihood related project activities.
  • Support the project manager with partnership coordination where required. This can include assisting during partnership meetings, supporting site visits to partners, supporting with trainings, and mentorship activities of the local partner organization.
  • Conduct field visits to assess, implement and monitor all the livelihoods activities, like business and financial management training and business grants using as much as possible an age, gender and diversity approach, in order to fully understand community needs and priorities.
  • Support the economic recovery Specialist in the business and financial management training and organize the training.

Other:

  • Ensure adherence to DRC national staff policy guidelines and Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure compliance with DRC AGD policy and AGD programmatic minimum standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the zero-tolerance to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse policy
  • Ensure compliance with DRC guidelines and policies on HR, admin, finance, and supply.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks as requested by the Peacebuilding Project Manager.
