This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

As part of its mandate in Morocco, UNICEF provides support to its national partners in the efforts made to improve the living conditions of children and the realization of their rights. For this regard, different programs are implemented in the context of the UNICEF/Morocco country program for the 2023-2027 cycle. To facilitate the achievement of expected results, UNICEF uses Social and Behavior Change and Community Engagement (SBC-CE) approaches to support the various programs with a view to encouraging a change of unfavorable perceptions and practices to children’s rights in a positive environment. The Country Program Management Plan (CPMP) 2023-2027 includes an SBC,CE unit which encompasses a vacant UNV position to support a team of an SBC,CE specialist as head of section, a national officer, consultants and interns.

Under the direct supervision of the SBC-CE Specialist the UN Volunteer will carry out the following tasks:

• Read and familiarize him/herself with all existing SBC documentation and ongoing actions. • Support SBC-CE key programs, projects and activities

  • Accountability to Affected Population : • Support the coordination, preparation, and execution of Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) activities and workshops, collaborating closely with the AAP focal point, including follow-up on AAP Task Force initiatives. • Aid in consolidating AAP initiatives and tools mapping while contributing to the development of new partnerships to strengthen AAP mainstreaming efforts.

  • Digital engagement : • Support deployment of digital engagement initiatives namely Internet Of Good Things (IOGT) and U-Report through assistance in content creation for the website and elaboration of promotion work plan.

  • Partnership and other : • Provide support for the development and implementation of innovative SBC-CE initiatives, with partners and youth organizations, while assisting program sections in implementing, following up and documenting community engagement activities. • Support national Civil Society Organizations CSOs mapping integration in digital dashboard and activation of concrete collaboration activities with the MoH and CSO based on SBCCE approaches and principles. • Any other related tasks required or assigned by the supervisor.

Furthermore, UN Volunteers are encouraged to integrate the UN Volunteers programme mandate within their assignment and promote voluntary action through engagement with communities in the course of their work. As such, UN Volunteers should dedicate a part of their working time to some of the following suggested activities:

• Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day); • Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Provide annual and end of assignment self-reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities.
• Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers; • Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Results/expected outputs:

As a vital part of the UNICEF team, the volunteer should offer prompt, helpful, and high-quality support to achieve the organization's goals and benefit its beneficiaries. This includes: • Effective support provided for implementing and documenting SBC-CE initiatives. • Successful assistance in executing AAP activities leading to consolidated initiatives and new partnerships. • Enhanced deployment and promotion of digital engagement activities.

with youth organizations at national or international level in positions related to community mobilization and engagement as well as in youth participation. • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills in French, English and Arabic. Tamazight dialects and tifinagh are strongly recommended for this position. • Fluency in spoken Tamazight is an advantage. • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Power BI etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment. • knowledge and competencies in graphic design, photo and video taking and editing is desirable . • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines. • Have affinity in UNICEF values, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national.

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan.
