The consultant will focus her/his work on supporting the regional expansion and long-term regional sustainability of the SMP PLUS project, one of the innovative digital solutions currently being developed to improve the efficacy and efficiency of School Feeding programmes, a collaboration between the World Food Programme, African Union Development Agency, the Partnership for Child Development - Imperial College London and the Food and Agriculture Organization.

What will you do in this position?

The SMP (School Meal Planning) PLUS Regional Scale-Up Manager will be responsible to:

  • Keep regular contact with regional country users
  • Develop the demand by identifying Country Offices where the use of SMP PLUS would be beneficial and support them through the implementation process
  • Provide training to Governments and Country Offices and act as the first line of user support in the early adoption stages
  • Support Country Offices in SMP PLUS-related data collection and updating as required
  • Plan and execute SMP PLUS day-to-day knowledge transfer to the Regional Bureau by defining a plan to transfer SMP PLUS knowledge. Identify stakeholders and focal points, jointly work towards knowledge transfer
  • Identify and promote SMP PLUS-related partnerships, internally within WFP and externally with actors such as regional bodies (when adequate)
  • Support communication-related efforts around SMP PLUS. Document country adoption and regional expansion
  • When required, support the Regional Bureau Implementation plan. While the tasks above will be prioritized, the position holder is also expected to support the roll-out of the Regional Bureau Implementation Plan (RBIP) activities tangential to the tool, such as nutrition, digitalization and/or Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF), as per the Regional Bureau needs
  • Consider, suggest, and activate linkage of SMP PLUS to other initiatives
  • Any other task related to the SMP PLUS project, as required

What are the deliverables at the end of the contract?

The SMP PLUS Regional Scale-Up Manager will be responsible for the following deliverables:

  • Regional scale-up plan drafted and approved
  • Regional knowledge transfer plan drafted, approved, and executed
  • Documented experiences on SMP PLUS adoption by countries
  • Communication materials, when required

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: University degree in Nutrition, Engineering, Agriculture, Mathematics, Communications, or related field.

Experience: At least 2 years of previous professional experience in Nutrition, School Feeding, Data Management, Innovation or Communication.

Knowledge of WFP and school feeding basics is an asset.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Knowledge of Nutrition basics, humanitarian programming or school feeding an asset.

Language:

  • Fluency in both languages, French and English.
