ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

WFP supports over 1.4 million people in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh including over 860,000 Rohingya refugees and host community Bangladeshi under the L2 emergency operation. WFP provides food and nutrition assistance to the entire refugee population in the world’s largest refugee camp as well as school meals, nutrition service, and livelihood support to host communities in Cox’s Bazar.

To meet the immediate and nutritional food needs of these beneficiaries, WFP is at the forefront in innovation through the use of E-voucher applications, Building blocks and the construction of E-Voucher outlets that incorporates the inclusion of co-operating partners, host community and Bangladesh government in providing beneficiaries with a choice of locally grown fresh produce and other dried food stuffs. At present WFP manages 3 offices, 3 warehouse complexes, and the Madhu Chara Hub.

JOB PURPOSE

To conduct water storage, supply and sanitary ware and water and waste sewage installation, maintenance duties and repairs to standards. The job holder will ensure continuity of water supply through the installation, repair, maintenance and servicing of water tanks and supply services.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

This job is located in Madhu Chara - Ukhiya and reports to Admin Facilities Unit or Hub Manager. Under the supervision of the Administration facilities unit or their designated subordinate, the incumbent shall be responsible for the following duties:

  • Carry out works for all plumbing services, including repair and installation of sanitary equipment using best practice
  • Conduct the installation and maintenance of the water supply systems for all WFP premises as required, ensuring a safe and reliable working environment according to the WFP OHS directive
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plumbing issues outages
  • Provide written requests for materials and keep detailed reports on storage and usage of these materials
  • Provide advice to concerned parties on technical aspects of installation, modification and repair of sanitary water supply and waste services
  • Determine procedures for maintenance, installation, modification and repair of water storage, waste pipe lines, water supply pipe lines and sanitary equipment
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with standard procedures
  • Examine plumbing services for proper working procedures.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Satisfactory completion of secondary school education

Experience: Minimum 3 or more years of responsible and proven hands-on plumbing experience in installation, repair and maintenance of water and waste services.

Knowledge & Skills: Only candidates with the following levels of skills and experience shall be considered.

  • Ability to conduct plumbing works to a high standard
  • Skilled in installation of sanitary ware, water storage tanks up to 10,000ltrs
  • Proficient in the installation and methodologies installation of PVC and HDPE water and waste
  • Pipes, shut off valves and pressure valves and ball valves and ball cocks fand float switches
  • Experienced in troubleshooting leaks in water and waste services
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

Desirable Skills and Experience: Experienced in installation, maintenance and repair of sanitary ware, pressure pumps and valves. Language: Proficiency in both oral and written communication in Bangla and English language.

Monthly Salary : BDT 64,131
