Org. Setting and Reporting

The incumbent of this post reports technically to the Field Electro-mechanical Engineer and administratively to the designated Engineering supervisor.

Responsibilities

The incumbent: 1. Is responsible for all day-to-day activities of electrical works in construction/maintenance project site; supervises the work carried out by contractors ensuring that works are implemented in accordance with the Contract Documents and that all quality, health and safety, gender requirements are met. 2. Monitors the quality of workmanship and electrical materials used in the project, ensuring that they comply with the specifications and that all necessary tests on materials are carried out including inspections at the manufacturers' location, as per the standing procedure and instructions. 3. Valuates, measures, and agrees with the contractor on the quantities of the executed electrical works; reviews the contractor’s requested interim and final payments and ensures the conformity of these payments with the executed quantities and submits them to his/her supervisor’s certification. 4. Assures correctness of electrical works of construction/maintenance site; checks the locations of existing electrical utilities for possible conflict and resolves any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise in consultation with his/her supervisor. 5. Checks and records working, shop and as built drawings prepared for this purpose, the existing electrical fittings/connections, and full details of any deviations from the working/as built drawings which may have been made during the execution of the work. 6. Prepares and discusses with his/her supervisor the necessary Variation Orders, Extension of Time and any other changes required to the Contract related to the electrical works where necessary; assesses and records all relevant details of the additional works, including costs of labour, materials and equipment. 7. Maintains and enters into Facilities Management Information System (FMIS) records, forms, payments, variation orders, extension of time, progress, tests, and other electrical project actions carried out on the construction and/or maintenance site; prepares daily and weekly technical/financial progress and ad hoc reports/statistics and information as may be required including costs and time requirements and provides recommendations as appropriate. 8. Examines and approves, in consultation with the supervisor/s, methods proposed by the contractor to ensure safe and satisfactory execution of electrical works in the construction/ maintenance site. 9. Performing other duties as may be assigned.

Grade and Salary: Grade13 Monthly basic salary USD1,410.70, payable in JD at UN monthly exchange rate, plus a Jerusalem allowance payable in JD at UNRWA rate: a.
