Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) provides the foundation for sustainable and transformative progress on disability inclusion through all pillars of the work of the United Nations (UN). Through the Strategy, the UN system is systematically embedding the rights of persons with disabilities into its work, both externally, through programming, and internally, as well as building trust and confidence among persons with disabilities to ensure that they are valued and their dignity and rights are respected and that, in the workplace, they find an enabling environment in which to fully and effectively participate on an equal basis with others. The ultimate goal is to achieve equality of outcomes and foster an inclusive culture within the UN system. In accordance with the UN’s Development Coordination Office (DCO) role as the secretariat for the UN Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) and as coordinator and manager of the Resident Coordinator System (RCS), DCO acknowledges the rights of persons with disabilities and committed through it’s Strategy, to making its operations and the RCS inclusive of persons with disabilities. In consequence, UN Ghana aims to strengthen disability inclusion analysis, programming, internal systems and processes and make the Country Team more disability friendly and increase the number of persons with disabilities working within the UN. To fulfill this, there is a Disability Inclusion Coordinator (DIC) who supports UNCT implement its Disability Inclusion Strategy and accountability scorecard - covering the four core areas of leadership, strategic planning and management; inclusiveness; programming; and organizational culture. there is the need to recruit someone to provide personal assistance services for the Inclusion Coordinator.

The position is located with the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Ghana and the personal assistance service person(PASP) will report directly to the Head of Office RCO Ghana.

Specific Duties &Responsibilities - Provide travel assistance to and from external meetings by accompanying the staff. - Read printed materials. - Assist with using certain MSWord and web-based applications where required. - Provide additional support to persons with disabilities present in a meeting where the staff is in attendance. - Any other tasks assigned the supervisors.

Qualifications/special skills A minimum of High School Diploma is required.

1 year experience looking after a visually impaired person is required Direct experience of vision impairment is desirable

Languages Fluency in oral and written English is required
