SHS engages youth, builds their capacity, and supports projects that give youth a positive role as development partners in the region. The programme leads initiatives that help foster intercultural dialogue and prevent extremism, especially among the youth. In addition, SHS capitalizes on the potential of sport as a means of building peace and mobilizing sustainable development. Provide research assistance, administrative and programmatic support to the SHS Programme Specialist, and to other international/national staff, whenever requested by the Director of the Office; 2\. Support resource mobilization by performing background research and regularly updating record and calendar of appointments and proposal deadlines, and briefing program specialists on new calls and deadlines. Provide research support during drafting and revision of relevant working documents including concept notes, letters of intent, stakeholders and partner correspondence, and compile relevant information for activities and programmes; Long Description ---------------- 3\. Assist with the preparation and the follow-up of contracts on the basis of the documents provided by the programme staff, including identify relevant services providers, draft ToRs, draft amendments, liaise with contractors and prepare dossiers for payments, etc.; 4\. Assist with the organization and coordination of regional/national workshops, seminars, missions and meetings for SHS activities. Prepare working documents and logistical support. Communicate with the participants and participate in meetings. Conduct supporting research, collect and compile information, including drafting concept notes, invitation letters, reports, news items, nice entries and draft presentations as required; 5\. Support budgetary and financial follow up by providing regular updates on the expenditure carried out on the basis of the project documents, performing frequent follow up and updates of actual spending, participating in the development of financial reports; including contribution to SISTER reporting and following up any budget revision requests; 6\. Assist in updating procurement plans including costing, scheduling and applicable procurement methods for UNESCO Cairo Programmes, together with the necessary internal follow up of procurement and contracting activities, whenever necessary for the concerned programme; 7\. Support drafting of necessary specifications and terms of reference for equipment, materials and services ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance with quality standards, and proper tendering and bidding procedures; 8\. Comply with and maintain knowledge of applicable rules, legislations, regulations, standards and best practice; 9\. Assist with the creation, review and delivery of documents, and put in place an appropriate filing system for the same. Liaise as necessary for translation, printing, etc. Compile and maintain records of transactions and office activities. Search office files and records relating to a variety of topics for information and reference. Select information and records in correspondence, technical papers, projects or programme plans and general reference documents; 10\. Provide quality translated Eng-Ar-Eng documents including concept notes, reports, and news items, while maintaining proper UN terminology and language standards; 11\. Provide administrative and programatic support on need basis to office units including the Director office in coordination with the PS and the AO; and 12\. Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned by the Director. **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- - University degree in social and human sciences, political and economic sciences, business administration, humanities, accounting, and economics or in another closely related field or an equivalent professional experience would be an asset. - Minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the field of social and human sciences related research support and implementation in addition to administrative experience directly linked to the coordination and management of Social and human sciences projects and studies - Experiences of working with international organizations is an asset. **LANGUAGES** ------------- - Excellent knowledge (oral and written) of Arabic and English.
