Key Tasks

The overall goal of the internship is to support UNICEF Georgia in delivering programmes for child rights based education into: a) Professional Development Programme for academic staff of universities and b) 3rd international conference on Child Rights Education at universities.

The specific tasks of the intern are:

  1. Professional Development Programme for academic staff of universities (May-October 2022)

Major output: academic staff of universities are trained in child rights and equipped with respective resources/literature

Deliverable 1. the report on the Professional Development Programme with attachments: conducted sessions; literature and presentations; results of evaluation of the programme by participants.

  • Familiarize with Professional Development Programme designed for academic staff of universities, related documents and literature;
  • In collaboration with respective speakers and supervisor support in planning and delivering sessions for academic staff:
  1. Prepare agendas and respective documents for sessions,
  2. Plan and create meetings via distance platforms (Zoom, Teams and etc),
  3. Share meeting details/information with participants (invitations, reminders) and follow up,
  4. Support in planning and delivering logistical issues for in-person trainings (preparing meeting materials, communicating with participants, ensuring accommodation, transportation, meals, equipment and all other relevant facilities for the trainings),
  5. Support in translation of training agendas, briefs/short information about trainings and other needed documents,
  6. Support in any other issue related to implementation of PDP.
  7. 3rd international conference on Child Rights Education at universities (May-December)

Major output: 3rd international conference conducted successfully and submitted abstracts prepared for publishing

Deliverable 2. the report on the conference with the brief description of plenary sessions and section works with attachments: agenda, list of participants, final version of the book of abstracts prepared for publishing.

  • Support in the development of materials for conference announcement,
  • Support in spreading information about the conference, submission of abstracts, essays, projects, deadlines,
  • Serve as a contact point for questions from interested authors,
  • Develop the database of submitted abstracts, essays and projects,
  • Communicate with authors about final decision of the Scientific Committee concerning acceptance of abstracts, essays, projects,
  • Support in logistics for organization of the conference: develop the accommodation, transportation plans, inform participants,
  • Support conduction of the conference on place (Samtskhe-Javakheti State University),
  • Support compilation of conference materials for publication,
  • Support in any other work needed for successful conduction of the conference.

c) Final report

The intern will contribute to UNICEF Georgia programme implementation on the above tasks for the duration of May-December 2022.

The work of the intern will be supervised by the Education Officer (quality education) with overall supervision by the Education Specialist/Head of Section.

Stipend: In accordance to UNICEF's guidelines, interns will be paid a nominal stipend per month. There is no expectancy of employment at the end of the internship.

Insurance: UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern's service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to start his/her work. If accepted, the intern will be required to provide a copy of health insurance coverage and to fill out the relevant UNICEF forms on conditions regarding service as an intern.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate or Ph.D. degree programme or have graduated within the past two years - Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Applicants are expected to have completed or be enrolled in social sciences related discipline (public governance, education policy and etc).
  • To be fluent in Georgian and have good knowledge of working English.
