  1. Role and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Shelter Team Leader, the Shelter Technical Assistant is expected to support the day-to-day implementation Shelteractivities in urban and rural settings. ShelterProgramme encompasses supporting conflict affectedcommunities in Southernoblasts through a set of various modalities of in-kind support, construction and repairing work (using contractors), providing cash and voucher assistance etc. The support is being provided incycle of assessment, defining proper response, implementing monitoring and evaluation.

Generic responsibilities

  1. Implement assigneddaily programmatic tasks and activities as assigned by the supervisor
  2. Comply with NRC programme strategy,tools, guidelines, and standards
  3. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changesin project activities
  4. Collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders at field level as requested by the supervisor (i.e. local authorities, other humanitarian organizations, volunteer groups)
  5. Adhere to NRC policies, guidelines, and procedures
  6. Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolioaccording to plan of action
  7. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  8. Ensure proper filing of documents
  9. Contribute to identification of protection risks and needs in the context of the program implementation
  10. Promote the rights of IDPs in line with NRC’s advocacystrategy

Specific responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Shelter Team Leader, conduct assessments or guide enumerators when participating in needs assessments to identify potential beneficiaries that could benefit from NRC’s Shelter activities.
  • Where the Technical Assistant is an engineer or architect, development of BOQs and AutoCAD drawing, and supervision and monitoring of construction activities.
  • Provide regular suggestions on programme improvements and progress reports to the Shelter Team Leader and Shelter Project Coordinator.
  • Closely cooperate with other departments to ensure adequate field-level implementation of a coherent integrated programme in target areas in Ukraine,
  • If assigned, liaise at field level with local government/stakeholders/communities to ensure NRC obtains required permissions for day-to-day project implementation,
  • Complete assigned tasks related to distribution of Non-food Items and Cash in compliance with standard procedures and guiding documents,
  • Engage with communities to enhance communityparticipation and involvement in project pahses in line

with safe and inclusiveprogramming guidelines.

  • Prepare procurement documents and participate in procurement procedures.
  • Ensure proper securing of project supporting documents.
  • Provide inputs for project planningand reporting purposes.
