Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by refugees and internally displaced people all over the world.

DRC is seeking a dynamic professional to serve as Shelter/Non-Food Items Officer in DRC Ukraine.

Overall purpose of the role:

• Ensure the quality of the planning, implementation and follow up of all technical aspects of the shelter/NFI activities being implemented by DRC • Develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DRC’s sector activities

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Programming & Operations

• Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan

• Participate in preparing monthly/quarterly/annual highlights/reports and proposals and budgets for donors

• Lead the team in carrying out monitoring and evaluation exercises

• Quality control and site monitoring to ensure that services provided are according standards

Coordination and representation

• Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on sector relevant issues

• Represent DRC at meetings and other relevant technical coordination meetings

• Ensure integration with other DRC sectors

Project development

• Develop project plans and budgets for funding

• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for shelter and NFI activities

• Develop projects tools

• Project implementation and reporting

• Monitor and evaluate projects

Logistics/Finance

• Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up

• Plan and coordinate proactively logistics and movements of staff from and to different operational areas

• Initiate procurements and ensure their execution

• Ensure distribution plans are prepared and shared with logistics in a timely manner

Supervisor responsibilities

• Coordinates the daily activities of small teams, often comprised of subordinates and/or employees carrying out similar tasks

• Does not have direct line management responsibility for staff, but may contribute to recruitment and/or performance appraisal of members of the team

• Implements the manager’s decisions through the work of subordinate employees, often playing a role in deciding how to do it; and how to achieve the objective set by the manager.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have minimum 2 years of practical experience in shelter and/or NFI working for an INGO

Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Fluency in local language
  • Experience working with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organisations
  • Relevant university degree (e.g. engineering, political science, international development, or economics) or equivalent professional qualification

We offer

Contract length: 3 months with possibility of extension

Level: H non-managerial

Duty station: Lviv

Start date: ASAP

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff.
