Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 700 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

Overall purpose of the role:

Your main duties and responsibilities will be to assist the Shelter Officers and Team Leaders in ensuring the quality of the planning, implementation and follow-up of the shelter activities, to support and assist the Officers in their daily work in technical and non-technical tasks, to provide administrative and technical support to the shelter activities, to maintain daily records and update regular information in the database of project progress and current work, to prepare documentation on the assistance provided following the requirements of the Ukrainian legislation and DRC procedures.

Shelter Sector responsibilities:

• Monitor all Shelter activities including the day-to-day supervision of partners, contractors and ensure quality control

• Carry out or assist the Officers in technical assessments to elaborate BoQs

• Draft or assist in drafting procurement documents and scope of work related to shelter activities

Main Responsibilities:

Reporting

• Follow all relevant project tools, plans, and budgets

• Project implementation, reporting and evaluation

Programming & Operations

• Ensure efficient and effective program implementation while following the budget and work plan

• Provide technical support and inputs on all shelter activities

Coordination and representation

• Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on sector relevant issues

• Ensure integration with other DRC sectors

Logistics/Finance

• Support the monitoring of financial commitments and expenditures against budgets and provide timely feedback on budget follow-up

• Initiate procurements and ensure their execution

Required experience and competencies:

  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the monitoring and supervision of construction projects, preferably with experience in the field of humanitarian response for an international NGO, UN agency, relevant ministry, or local authority.
  • Experience in administrative and support tasks
  • Professional working proficiency in English an asset
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Skills in GIS software and AutoCAD are an asset

Required education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering, architecture or other relevant field is an advantage.
  • A specialized secondary vocational education or work experience in construction may be substituted for a technical education.

We offer: Contract length: 3 month renewable after satisfactory probation period. Level: I non Manager Designation of Duty Station: Mykolaiv with travel of up to 50% to Kherson region Start date: **May 2024****.
