UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s strategic plan, focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning (FP); and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. UNFPA calls for the realization of reproductive rights for all and supports access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services – including voluntary family planning, maternal health care and comprehensive sexuality education. UNFPA works to prevent and respond to gender-based violence including combatting child marriage and supporting engagement of men and boys to advance gender equality. UNFPA also works towards youth empowerment to exercise autonomy, choice and participation with regard to their sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and rights.

UNFPA country office in Lebanon works closely with government institutions, UN agencies and national and international NGOs, and community-based organizations to support affected men, women and adolescent boys and girls for both reproductive health (RH) services and Gender Based Violence (GBV). UNFPA support entails engagement at the policy making levels, strengthening health systems, training health care providers, empowering communities to promote safe motherhood and family planning to prevent and respond to gender-based violence and to take informed decisions and become agents of positive change in order to mitigate and respond to early marriage. The implementation of UNFPA program activities at the field level revolves mostly around service delivery, capacity development, outreach and awareness raising

Within the context of partnership between the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and UNFPA, and in view of the current crisis situation UNFPA will recruit for MOPH Primary Health Care (PHC) department an SRH Support Officer who will be responsible for providing cross-cutting administrative, operational and technical support to the Reproductive Health team and its programs, which encompasses, maternal and newborn health (MNH), and family planning (FP) programs, STIs, early detection of the RH cancers & adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (ASRHR). The SRH support officer works in close collaboration with relevant department team members, and follows-up on all SRH /GBV related activities and campaigns.

Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Head of Primary health Care Department at MOPH and/or the SRH UN Volunteer Expert, the UNV SRH Support Officer will support the day-to-day administrative decisions for the Reproductive Health program within the PHC department, ensuring strong communication, organization, planning, and coordination within the team. Specific duties will vary depending on the need, but will largely include needs such as: • Proactively coordinating and supporting the preparation and execution of regular RH Sub Working Group and Clinical Management of Rape TaskForce meetings, and other workshops, webinars, teleconferences and events. • Assisting with placing RH drugs orders. • Overseeing and monitoring the planning, implementation and coordination of all SRH, Hygiene Promotion and risk communication activities at the Ministry, Primary healthcare centers and dispensaries in coordination with the UN Volunteer Expert especially the on the communication part. • Planning, organizing and coordinating all project-related training and distribution activities in collaboration with the Head of the Department. • Supervising the implementation of SRH and community awareness raising activities to assure quality. • Ensuring that RH indicators are tracked and closely monitored with support from the data analyst. • Networking and building very strong connections with the other actors on the ground, including Primary Health Care Centers dispensaries, UNFPA, INGOs… • Drafting and copy-editing presentations, documents, and reports. • Note taking, tracking and following up on action items, providing technology and logistics support, and other administrative support functions as needed. • Any other tasks as required by the Head of the Department.

project management in health care field preferably in SRH. • Master's Degree in Public Health is an asset. • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication, problem solving and team facilitation skills, required. • Ability to develop recommendations and provide consultation to solve problems related to organizational compliance; ability to exercise judgment in interpreting and applying standards, policies and procedures. • Ability to work with a varied of disciplines and levels of staff across departments • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). • Fluent in English and Arabic (French is of added value)

As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Beirut-Lebanon. National UN Volunteers are part of the malicious insurance plan. National UN Volunteers are expected to be culturally sensitive and adjust to the prevailing culture and traditions.
