Org. Setting and Reporting 1. Supervisor: The incumbent reports to the assigned Deputy Principal of Training Centre.

2. Supervisees: Technical / Trade Instructors.

Responsibilities The incumbent:

*Ensures that the approved programme is carried out efficiently, and that equipment and other training facilities are properly maintained, recorded and utilized; *Ensures that lessons, examination preparations, marking and keeping of class records are carried out efficiently; *Checks regularly the weekly progress reports of trainees and advises on necessary educational and/or disciplinary measures to be taken as appropriate; advises supervisor on the general progress of each course and stresses on individual cases of failure to achieve necessary improvements; *Prepares developmental plans for Vocational Training Instructors of the course or group of courses in his/her specialization; *Teaches in his/her subject of specialization as and when required; *Participates in the recruitment and selection of trainees for the various courses in his/her technical/trade group; *Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Education *A university degree in an approved course of study with major specialization in the field of the General Mechanic and Mechatronics plus successful completion of a special professional Instructor Training Course of at least one year duration OR

*Two years post-secondary technical course plus two years Instructor Training Course OR

* Advanced university degree in a subject relevant to the field of general mechanic or mechatronics or in education or psychology.

Ph.D. in the field of subject taught or in education or psychology is desirable.

Work Experience At least one year of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor “A” is required, OR

Three years experience as a fully qualified Trade Instructor “A” is required.

Languages Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice Type of Contract: Fixed Term Appointment

Duration of Contract: 3 years including 1 year probation period, with the possibility of further extension, subject to the availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need.

Conditions of service: - Basic Salary: Monthly basic salary from $1259.40; and monthly dependency allowance up to $123.25. - Leave: 36 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with six-day working week. 30 days of annual leave for staff attending UNRWA duty stations with five-day working week. - Pension: Provident Fund contribution (15.2% of basic salary paid by the Agency) - Other conditions of service and benefits may apply.

Additional Information The incumbent is required to attend training workshops, conferences, and be able to travel outside his/her duty station for training purposes.

This vacancy notice is open to internal candidates. Only candidates residing in Gaza Strip, and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible to apply.
