You have:
- University degree in interaction design, interface design, human-computer interaction, psychology, anthropology, computer science, multimedia, business administration or related fields.
- At least six years’ experience being responsible for Design Systems and with user experience (UX) & user interface (UI) design.
- Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory.
- Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese is desirable.
- Proficiency designing high-quality user experience and user interface elements, adhering to corporate branding standards.
- Proficiency in writing UX guidance and documentation.
- In-depth knowledge of UX/UI design (wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes) and related tools.
- In-depth knowledge of usability and interaction design principles and best practices.
- Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

What we offer: A Consultancy Contract of up to 11 months with a possible extension following a one-month break depending on performance and funding.
Time zone: You will be expected to work from remote with a team working in the Central European Standard Time (CEST) time zone; for this role at least six working hours must overlap with the 08:30am to 5pm CEST working day.

Your role
The Senior UX & Design System Specialist personally drives the evolution of WFP’s corporate Design System. A Design System reinforcing WFP’s brand and bringing consistency to user interfaces across digital products is a pre-requisite to designing the user experience that help ensure WFP’s digital solutions meet the highest quality standards of technical usability, user acceptability and domain suitability.
In addition, the Senior UX & Design System Specialist provides User Experience (UX) oversight across the portfolio of IT Solutions delivered by the Branch, to ensure the Design System is properly adopted and IT solutions achieve a high level of usability and accessibility.
Your responsibilities
- Drive the evolution of WFP’s corporate Design System, incorporating an updating user interface (UI) elements, patterns, and components required by WFP’s IT Solutions, and ensuring easy-to-use documentation and guidance is provided to product managers, interface designers, and front-end Developers.
- Interact with WFP’s product manager, interface design and front-end development communities to stay-in-touch with the user interface and design requirements of existing and emerging IT solutions.
- Oversee and coordinate user experience (UX) activities across a portfolio of IT solutions, ensuring that interface designers and front-end developers adhere to the guidelines outlined in WFP’s Design System, and to UX best practices to ensure a high level of usability and accessibility of IT solutions.
- Run and coordinate WFP’s DesignersHub, promoting it with relevant audiences, inviting people to join, and creating a place to strengthen the connection among designers in WFP, share info and updates on the Design System and related matters, talk about DesignOps best practices, ask for feedback, and let designers showcase their work.
- Mentor junior User Interface designers.
- Other related duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education & Experience:
University degree in interaction design, interface design, human-computer interaction, psychology, anthropology, computer science, multimedia, business administration or related fields, and at least six years’ experience being responsible for Design Systems, and with user experience (UX) & user interface (UI) design.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency designing high-quality user experience and user interface elements, adhering to corporate branding standards;
- Proficiency in writing UX guidance and documentation;
- In-depth knowledge of UX/UI design (wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes) and related tools;
- In depth knowledge of usability and interaction design principles and best practices; and
- Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory. An intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.

WFP offers a competitive compensation package, which will be determined by the contract type and selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.
