You have:
- Advanced University degree in computer science or related field.
- At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in software applications development and implementation.
- Two years of experience related to cloud architecture.
- At least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside the country.
- Formal training in systems architecture, cloud architecture.
- Experience in Microsoft Power Apps, Azure Functions, Dynamics 365 Platform and Azure API management.
- Experience in developing serverless applications and mobile apps.
- Experience in testing cloud applications and their integration with DevOps CI/CD pipeline.
- Experience in cloud architecture characteristics such as OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, and elastic scalability.
- Experience in modern application development platforms and databases.
- Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Solution Architect consultant will be responsible for the delivery of solution architecture for the new My Portal web and mobile applications in accordance with UNRWA’s Enterprise Architecture and Information Security Standards, leading at least two developers.
Under the direct supervision of the Head, Business Services Management Section, and the overall supervision of the Chief Business Engagement Division of the Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD), in close collaboration with the My Portal Project Manager, the consultant will work closely with other project stakeholders to undertake the following activities:
- Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work
- Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding enterprise solution designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes
- Monitors the current-state solution portfolio to identify deficiencies through aging of the technologies used by the application, or misalignment with business requirements
- Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and their practical application to enable new and evolving business and operating models
- Analyzes the technology industry, competitors, and market trends, and determines their potential implications for a given solution
- Analyzes the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, legacy, and technical debt, and recommends solutions for improvement
- Leads evaluation, design and analysis for the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities, value-streams, business requirements and enterprise standards
- Manages and develops the architecture for a broader scope of projects or products, working closely with application architects that manage and design architecture for a single project or product or initiative
- Develops a roadmap for the evolution of the enterprise solution portfolio from current to future state, as defined by the solutions architecture
- Acts as a consultant on a broad range of technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes
- Creates architectural designs to guide and contextualize solution development across products, services, projects, and systems, including applications, technologies, processes, and information
- Works closely with the Project Manager to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised throughout the project
- Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models and architecture designs to support architectural governance to assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT estate
Defines the principles, guidelines, standards, and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision
Qualifications/special skills MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Advanced University degree from an accredited educational institution in computer science or a related field.
- At least eight years of progressively responsible experience in the development and implementation of large-scale software applications, two years of which must have aspects relating to the areas of cloud architecture.
- At least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside the country of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport or national identity card. Formal training in systems architecture, cloud architecture.
- Experience in Microsoft Power Apps, Azure Functions, Dynamics 365 Platform and Azure API management.
- Experience in developing serverless applications and mobile apps.
- Experience in testing cloud applications and their integration with DevOps CI/CD pipeline, preferably using the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Experience in cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability).
- Experience in modern application development platforms and databases.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
- This is a remote-based consultancy.
- The duration of the consultancy is up to 5 months (to the end of March 2023) with the possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and continuing need and satisfactory performance.
- The selected candidate will be remunerated at the P4 $7,906 level of the international staff salary scale.
One and a half days annual leave per completed month of service.
