Hire Senior Shelter Assistant (LICA 5) TORs to this position :

Overview of Position The Shelter Assistant is a key member of the UNHCR Protection Unit, reporting to UNHCR Protection Associate or other designated protection staff. The role involves day to day management of UNHCR temporary protection shelters.

Duties and Responsibilities - Conduct regular assessments of shelter needs and conditions. - Support the distribution of Cor Relief Items (CRIs) and monitor the usage and quality. - Participate in shelter Committee meetings and assist in the shelter beneficiary selection process prioritizing the needs of the most vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers. - Maintain records of shelter activities and coordinate with UNHCR various units to ensure activities are conducted in a regular, predictable and safe manner. - Liaise with UNHCR protection unit colleagues to address the needs of refugees and asylum seekers as identified by making the necessary referrals. - Provide briefings and prepare reports as required. - Perform other related duties as required. Minimum qualifications required Work experience: - Mandatory: For G5 - 2 years relevant experience with High School Diploma; or 1-year relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher - Desirable: Previous experience working with refugees and asylum seekers is a strong advantage for this position. Language Requirements Arabic and French are required while working knowledge of English is desirable.
