Overview

Support the implementation of AVR programme activities for migrants with protection needs.

You have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Migration Studies, Human Rights, International Relations/Affairs, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience; or, High School diploma with six years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in protection case management (including for survivors GBV and human trafficking, children at risk) in humanitarian or migration contexts.
• Experience working with vulnerable persons, ideally including returnees or deported migrants, who have complex needs.
• Experience with referrals and coordination with local protection actors, NGOs, or government services.
• Experience working in programs that include a movement operations component is an advantage.
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, NGOs in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Contract

This is a G-6 contract. This kind of contract is known as General Service and related categories. It is normally only for nationals. It usually requires 6 years of experience, depending on education. More about G-6 contracts.

The ​Senior Protection Casework Associate will support the implementation of AVR programme activities in the country through the delivery of protection screening, case management, referral, and post-arrival assistance services for migrants with protection needs.

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

• ​​Experience in protection case management (including for survivors GBV and human trafficking, children at risk) in humanitarian or migration contexts;

Responsibilities

1. Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of AVR project activities. 2. Compile, summarise, analyse, and present information/data on specific project topics, highlighting noteworthy issues for the consideration of appropriate parties. 3. Conduct individual protection screening of migrants upon arrival, in line with standard institutional tools and program-specific tools, recording information from screening (including cases such as survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and human trafficking, children at risk, including unaccompanied and separated, individuals with serious health condition and psychosocial support needs), and supporting the preparation of case plans under supervision 4. Support case management services and assistance: follow up on cases, track delivery of post arrival services, monitor progress, coordinate referrals to specialized services including legal, health, psychosocial, family tracing, GBV, child protection as needed, and support continuity of assistance. 5. Support administrative coordination of project implementation, including initiating requests, obtaining necessary clearances and following-up on administrative actions. 6. Assist in the implementation of safe and dignified post arrival assistance, maintaining privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent; support with documentation and coordination with relevant government authorities. 7. Support communication with beneficiaries: explain available assistance, provide clear, culturally, age and linguistically appropriate information. 8. Maintain accurate data collection and case notes in IOM’s case management systems (including MiMOSA and program-specific tools), in line with data protection and confidentiality standards. 9. Assist in preparing reports, summaries, outcomes of case work, and contribute to protection assessments, lessons learned, and monitoring of protection-related project indicators as required by the programme. 10. Organise meetings, workshops and training sessions; prepare training materials and participate in the delivering of capacity building workshops in collaboration with the National Protection Officer. 11. Monitor work of implementing partners and report any non-compliance to the supervisor. 12. Provide inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers and provide general support for the development of new projects. 13. Provide on-the-job guidance and training to newly-assigned casework staff and assist the supervisor in coordinating and monitoring related tasks. 14. Perform such other relevant duties as may be assigned.
