Background
DRC has been operating in West Africa since 1998. The DRC West Africa Regional Office (hereafter: WARO) is based in Dakar, Senegal, and covers six countries outside of Senegal. Led by the Regional Director, the DRC WARO oversees, supports and provides strategic directions for DRC’s Country Offices within the region, which currently includes Mali, Burkina Faso, the Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and the Central African Republic. The DRC West Africa office is actively engaged in external coordination, especially in the Protection sector, to develop synergies (join analysis, tools, …) and increase the quality of the response. Amongst other DRC has been much involved in developing the Project 21 (P21) with UNHCR.
The P21 is a regional protection monitoring tool, based on monthly interviews of key informants and households. It is deployed in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Cameroon and Nigeria. Data are collected on Kobo and hosted on UNHCR’s server. Outputs and dashboards are currently done with Power-Bi.
Purpose
DRC West Africa Regional Office is looking for a Senior Protection Analyst to support the regional protection monitoring team (P21) with the analysis of the information collected monthly through the P21.
The senior protection analyst’s main objectives are to:
- Support with the bi-annual analysis of the information and data
- Provide inputs from secondary sources.
The specific objectives are to:
- Lead the analysis of the P21 data for the second semester 21, and for the year 21.
Responsibilities
Lead the analysis of the P21 data for the second semester 21, and for the year 21.
Lead country and thematic working group to analyse and provide feed back on the information gathered by the P21.
Provide inputs to the analysis from relevant secondary sources.
Provide guidelines to ease further analysis, per theme.
- Provide hypothesis to check during national/ regional protection analysis exercises.
- Provide a “baseline” of available data at country level to compare to (demographics…).
- Support country-based analysis
- Support national clusters with their protection risk analysis and integration of P21 data.

General Regulations
- The employee must follow the DRC's instructions for security, confidentiality and ethical guidelines, including the Code of Conduct and the Humanitarian Accountability Framework.
- The employee must not exercise any other remunerated activity during the term of his contract with the DRC without receiving prior authorization to do so
- The employee must not engage in any activity that could interfere with the DRC or the implementation of any project during the term of the contract with the DRC.
- Employee must not give media interviews or post photos or other material related to the project without prior permission.
- The employee must return all equipment borrowed for the project to DRC after the end of the contract period or upon request.
