This is a fixed term appointment with option to renew for an initial period of three (3) years following Section 3.1 (b) of Administrative Order No. 2.01 (“Recruitment and Appointment’). This appointment is not convertible to a regular appointment. After the initial fixed period, ADB has the option to renew the appointment for up to three years or allow it to expire. This decision is based on ADB’s overall interest in retaining the skills and experience of the staff for medium-term work program within the respective group, department, or office, while considering the availability of funding sources.

The position is assigned in the Pakistan Resident Mission (PRM) within the Central and West Asia Department (CWRD). CWRD is responsible for maintaining client relations and delivering ADB assistance to countries in the Central and West Asia region. PRM works closely with government agencies, development partners, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to facilitate the successful formulation, processing, administration and monitoring of ADB-financed loan and technical assistance (TA) projects.

Job Purpose

The (Senior) Project Officer (Human and Social Development) actively contributes to the Resident Mission (RM) and Sector Group’s work program by handling loans, grants and technical assistance (TA) processing, administration, of sector projects and programs, and contribute to other general social sector activities, including education sector, and covering both public and private sector operations. The incumbent will report to Country Director, PRM on day-to-day administrative matters and to the Director, Human and Social Development, East, Central and West Asia team on operational and policy-related matters. The staff will also work closely with relevant international staff based in ADB Headquarters and may supervise administrative staff.
