The IBE offers strategic advice, technical assistance tailored to specific country needs, short and long-term capacity-building opportunities, and provides access to cutting edge knowledge in the field of curriculum and learning. Under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Education (ADG/ED), the direct supervision of the Director of the IBE, the incumbent will be in charge of the implementation of Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum related activities. He / She will: Long Description ---------------- - Provide intellectual guidance on Early Childhood Education (ECE) curriculum elaboration, planning, monitoring and evaluation. - Analyse major trends, issues strategies on ECE content from an international comparative perspective and its implication for strengthening education quality. - Provide intellectual guidance and lead the production of tools to strengthen the capacities of national institutions for ECE curriculum improvement. - Provide technical guidance on health and nutrition curriculum issues for ECE. - Contribute actively to resource mobilization through specific project proposals, advocacy and other actions to implement initiatives on curriculum renewal, design and development. - Contribute in the cooperation with the HQ, in the development of the Global Strategic Partnership (GSP) on Early Childhood. - Assure the implementation of ECE related issues. - Produce evidence-base arguments and provide policy advice to Member States in ECE curriculum related work. - Assist in any other IBE activity when required and contribute effectively to the broader scope of the IBE work. Externally, he/she will work closely with UNESCO HQ, Institutes and Field Offices in curriculum related initiatives focusing on early reading, as well as with external agencies, consultants and colleagues in other UN organizations.
