Contribute to the implementation of Programme activities:** a) Contribute to the design, plan, development, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the education programmes, projects and activities, ensuring the timely and coherent implementation; b) Provide logistical and administrative support, in coordination with programme staff of the Education Unit, to the successful implementation of programmes, projects and activities, including events and missions; c) Assist in the facilitation of close working relationships and exchanges with the National Commissions for UNESCO, education ministries/authorities and their relevant departments, national institutes, education stakeholders and networks in the Central Asian countries; d) Contribute to the coordination of narrative and financial reporting on Education programme activities to the Headquarters, the UN Results Groups, donors and other external development partners and help tracking programme implementation using relevant tools, including SISTER, in coordination with programme staff of the Education Unit; e) Support the Education unit, as needed, in communicating and managing consultants and service providers; f) Participate in joint efforts with other UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, development partners and stakeholders, by helping to identify, concretize, coordinate and carry out joint UN education programming; **2. Act as a focal point to one or several extra-budgetary projects of the Education unit, as assigned, by contributing to:** a) Managing the design and planning, direct implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting on these projects; b) Ensuring coordination of assigned project activities with partners, contractors and consultants per the project documents and terms of reference; c) Monitoring the delivery of the projects assigned, ensuring preparation and submission project progress reports upon request of the donor(s) and/or Headquarters; Long Description ---------------- **3. Research, Knowledge Management and Public Information:** a) Contribute to the conduct of situational analysis and research, and compilation of data as well as assist by drafting concept notes, publications, presentations, speeches, progress reports and other education programme and project documents; b) Contribute to public information and outreach tasks by drafting website articles and social media posts; c) Upload relevant programme and project documents onto designated platforms and/or shared drives to ensure good maintenance of the institutional memory of UNESCO Almaty Office. **4. Contribute to programme administration:** a) Assist with administrative and financial matters, such as drafting budgets, procurement, preparing contracts, drafting terms of reference, memos, letters and making travel arrangements as needed; b) Draft financial-administrative documentation; initiate administrative procedures and ensure follow-up; review requests for payments against contractual obligations, and provide information on payment status and remaining obligations to supervisor; c) Assist with financial closure of the assigned projects in line with standard operating procedures. d) Provide translation and interpretation of working documents as needed; Long Description ---------------- **5. Partnership and Resource Mobilization:** a) Assist in building partnerships with stakeholders, in particular with national stakeholders, the private sector, civil society, non-governmental organizations and multilateral funding organizations. b) Analyze and compile data for potential partnership opportunities and provide input to concept notes and proposals to mobilize resources for projects. c) Contribute to maintaining relations with UNESCO's international and national partners: draft correspondence, answer queries. d) Participate and contribute to the meetings with partners and donors of the assigned projects; **6. Undertake any other tasks or assignment necessary for the successful implementation of the education programme of the UNESCO Almaty Office.** **COMPETENCIES (Core / Managerial)** ------------------------------------ Accountability (C) Communication (C) Innovation (C) Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement (C) Planning and organizing (C) Results focus (C) Teamwork (C) **-** ----- For detailed information, please consult the [UNESCO Competency Framework]( **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** --------------------------- ***EDUCATION*** • Completed higher education degree in education, management, public policy and public administration, international relations or another related field. ***WORK EXPERIENCE*** • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience in programme support, financial, and/or administrative service acquired at the national or international level. • Experience in handling web-based management systems. • Experience working and/or managing in education related programmes and projects of international organizations. ***SKILLS/COMPETENCIES*** • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, to take initiative and to provide quality and timely support and services. • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to draft correspondence and correct documents. • Good organizational, coordination and filing skills. • Ability to interpret rules and manage priorities in order to meet tight deadlines. • Discretion and capacity to deal efficiently and tactfully with people of different cultural backgrounds. • Good ICT skills with proficiency in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.). ***LANGUAGES*** • Excellent knowledge of English and Russian. **DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS** ---------------------------- ***EDUCATION*** • Master’s degree in education policy, educational leadership and/or related field. ***WORK EXPERIENCE*** • Experience working in education related projects and initiatives, including related and not limited to Education for Sustainable Development, ICT in education, and healthy lifestyles; • Experience in the UN System or an international organization. • Certification or experience in project management ***LANGUAGES*** • Knowledge of Kazakh. **BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS** ----------------------------- • \*761,210 KZT monthly (including 10% for pension and 5% for medical insurance) (\*subject to change in case of changes in UNESCO Almaty SC salary scale) • UNESCO's salaries are paid in local currency (Kazakh tenge). • Other benefits include: 2.5 days annual leave for each completed month of service, 5% for medical insurance and 10% for pension plan are included into the monthly salary. • Please note that UNESCO is a non-smoking Organization. **SELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS** ------------------------------------- Please note that all candidates must complete an on-line application and provide complete and accurate information.
