UNICEF has developed a new Europe Partnership Strategy that is currently being implemented in the organization as well as with UNICEF’s partners and stakeholders. The strategy is based on the vision that by 2030, one billion of the most vulnerable children in the world benefit from UNICEF’s engagement in and with Europe, thanks to UNICEF’s role as the authoritative thought leader, advocate, convener and partner of choice for and with children at country, regional and global levels. This will be achieved by a more integrated and ‘One UNICEF’ approach in Europe.

How can you make a difference?

The Senior Project Advisor will:

  1. In coordination with the two Sponsors for the Europe Partnership Strategy, facilitate its roll-out across the organization and with the National Committees within Europe.
  2. Organize regular meetings with the Stakeholder Advisory Group and periodic communication across the UNICEF family on the progress of the roll-out.
  3. Support the Stakeholder Advisory Group in their task to include the strategy, from 2022 onwards, in the workplans of parts of UNICEF that are engaging in and with Europe. Provide relevant guidance for the most efficient way in doing so.
  4. Organize key events (e.g. country visits of the Sponsors) and perform tasks as relevant to support the implementation of the strategy. This includes for instance agenda setting of meetings, facilitation and follow-up.
  5. Deliver on other duties as assigned by the Sponsors.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in in International Relations, social sciences, management, communications, or a related field *A first University Degree in a relevant field combined with 2 additional years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an Advanced University Degree.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive experience with at least four years at the international level in one or more of the following is required: project management; fundraising and partnership development across governments, corporates, foundations; civil society and youth engagement.
  • Strong project management experience working in cross-functional environments, spanning programme, policy, partnerships, and public engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with diverse groups of partners, donors, young people, and other external stakeholders.
  • Good judgement and ability to drive projects from conception through completion.
  • Deep understanding of UNICEF and world affairs and a commitment to child rights. Knowledge of EU Institutions and funding mechanisms is a strong asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. French is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
