The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through innovative technology-enabled solutions.

UNICEF is going through an exciting digital transformation that will influence the work of the entire organization. As part of this transformation, UNICEF has opened a new ICTD Digital Core office in Valencia, Spain to execute ICTD’s digital strategy across all UNICEF locations globally.

The Senior Production Associate is part of the Connectivity Communications and Collaboration (CCC) Unit in the Platforms and Service Delivery (PSD) Section in ICTD's Digital Core in Valencia, Spain. The CCC unit is the global architecture and engineering lead for UNICEF’s global corporate network and unified communications portfolio.

The position is under the supervision of the ICT Specialist (Unified Communications) in Valencia, Spain. Occasional travel might be required.

How can you make a difference?

The Senior Production Associate will support the ICTD PSD Connectivity, Communications and Collaboration Unit in engineering, deployment, operations and support of UNICEF’s global Enterprise Telephony, Virtual Conferencing and Data Networking products and services.

Key responsibilities:

1. Support engineering, deployment, and operational tasks for UNICEF’s Unified Communications services.

• Assist field offices in the planning phases and implementation of UNICEF’s standard online conferencing and enterprise telephony services. • Act as subject matter expert on any matter related to the optimal use of UNICEF’s enterprise telephony or virtual conferencing services. • Prepare and publish technical guidelines and hardware/software standards related to enterprise telephony and online conferencing. • Stay abreast of trends, developments, and best practices in the field of unified communications. • Propose potential solutions to address gaps and enhance the existing services, test most promising approaches in the lab and document results and recommendations in the form of reports. • Liaise with solution vendors to follow-up on technical, feature-related or roadmap issues. • Assist in carrying out and coordinating proof of concepts and pilot phases in collaboration with field offices and release management. • Assist in the day-to-day operations and management of the enterprise telephony central infrastructure, the online conferencing infrastructure, and all related systems. • Assist in coordinating changes, packaging releases, and applying updates and patches. • Monitor availability and performance of enterprise telephony and online conferencing services. Produce performance and usage reports as required.

2. Provide 2nd level technical support on global enterprise telephony and video conferencing services for both backend infrastructure and field office-related issues.

• Provide 2nd tier technical support on global virtual conferencing services, including platform and back-end issues. • Provide 2nd tier technical support on global enterprise telephony including platform and back-end issues. • As required, provide 2nd tier technical support on LAN/Wi-Fi standard solutions. • As required, debug issues. Reproduce issues in the lab when appropriate. • Liaise with the Global Shared Services Centre and other ICTD PSD units as required for support, problem coordination and resolution.

3. Provide help with administrative tasks related to projects. Assist with field communications, coordination, capacity building and knowledge management.

• Help facilitate the procurement of Unified Communication and Data Networking products and services by providing the required technical details and justifications. Liaise and follow-up with the Supply Division when required. • Facilitate the shipment of Unified Communication or Data Networking equipment to field offices or workshop venues as required. • Conduct field office information gathering exercises and surveys (hardware and software inventory, local architecture, user satisfaction etc.) in the context of Unified Communications and Data Networking projects. • Assist in the coordination and delivery of webinars, training workshops or clinics to build local IT and end-user capacity, and to introduce innovative solutions and services. • Contribute to the content of ICTD PSD and project SharePoint sites in the form of rollout calendars, rollout status, technical guidelines, Q & A, and lessons learned.

4. Perform other duties as assigned.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have…

Academic Degrees: • Completion of secondary degree (High School Diploma or equivalent) is required. • Completion of first university degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent) is desirable.

Professional Experience: • A minimum of 7 years of work experience the field of IT is required, including experience in customer care, video conferencing, IT backend infrastructure administration, networks, IP Telephony and related technologies. • Certification or proven experience in several of the below ICT technical competencies is required: • IP Telephony • SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) • LAN (Local Area Network) administration • Wi-Fi technologies • QoS • Network Information Security • Windows Server/Client platforms including SQL • Microsoft Office 365 • Video conferencing and related hardware

Desirable Skills: • Familiarity with Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Poly, Ribbon Session Border Controllers, Logitech video systems, Azure and AWS (Amazon Web Services) systems. • Knowledge of common scripting languages for automating Windows and General IT operations.

Language Requirements: • Fluency in English is required. • Knowledge of another official UN language (Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese or Russian) is an asset.
