Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of global payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. This role involves managing the end-to-end payroll process for our employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all relevant laws and company policies.

The duties of this post-holder are:

Working within our Finance Team, you will manage and oversee the Institute’s global payroll processes. You’ll liaise with our payroll providers to deliver seamless, high-quality service. UK and international payroll experience is essential. You’ll be an integral part of our close-knit Institute Resources Team, which incorporates Finance, People, Legal, and IT.

Know-How:

  • Experience in autonomously managing multiple global payrolls and data management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll and benefit best practices and external regulatory requirements
  • Technical and analytical skills for application with payroll and payroll and benefits reporting
  • Experience of benefits as applicable to payroll management
  • Experience in implementing and delivering pension schemes and benefits such as private medical, vision care, life assurance, cycle to work, and enhanced sickness and parental entitlement

Accountability:

  • Lead and manage our payroll process, liaising with our Finance and People Teams, employees and TBI’s outsourced payroll providers as needed
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with external providers
  • Responsibility for the collation and maintenance of the integrity and consistency of payroll and benefits data, ensuring compliance with agreed processes and undertaking auditing and statutory reporting

Responsibility:

  • Manage the preparation and coordination of the Institute’s payrolls
  • Review and update international payroll and benefits requirements impacted by new legislation as necessary
  • Maintain, update and help create relevant payroll policies, procedures, and forms when required
  • Assist with the submission of statutory notices, audit requests and relevant tax documents (e.g. P11Ds)
  • Main point of contact for all payroll queries
  • Collaborate on new projects and initiatives impacting payroll and benefits as necessary

Judgement:

  • Able to work collaboratively with global teams and employees to finalise Institute payrolls in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
  • Work with colleagues across the Institute to address technical and jurisdictional challenges as they arise and implement lessons learned
  • Seek to improve the payroll processes continuously

Ambition:

  • Work with the Institute Resources function as a stakeholder in the excellent delivery of business support services to the organisation
  • Drives continuous improvement of TBI’s payroll processes in line with the objectives of the organisation
  • Bringing an innovative approach to ensure we are always adapting to serve the individual needs of our employees most effectively

Person Specification:

The successful candidate for the role should be able to display the majority of the following:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years Experience in processing UK payroll and specific knowledge of related legislation and statutory requirements, including PAYE
  • Experience of Workday, is preferred
  • Intermediate to expert user of Excel with strong attention to detail and a high level of data manipulation and reporting capability
  • Understanding of financial processing, controls and compliance
  • Adept at using information technology and Excel to manage and analyse data accurately with attention to detail
  • Proactively improve processes and implement change
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally
  • A collaborative nature and willingness to perform other duties as reasonably required to achieve the goals of our team and the Institute
