Org. Setting and Reporting The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote inclusive economic, social and environmental development and support regional cooperation and integration in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP's role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

The Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS) provides ICT services to ESCAP and other agencies in the United Nations compound in Bangkok, Subregional Offices, and Regional Institutes in Asia and the Pacific This position is located in Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS) of Division of Administration.

Responsibilities •Under the direct supervision of the Chief, Infrastructure Management Unit (IMU) and overall supervision of the Chief, Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS) the incumbent is required to perform the following functions:

•Work with CCTV, Visitor Management and Access Control Systems. •Ensure 24x7 operations and monitoring of assigned critical systems - CCURE Access Control System, Nextiva CCTV System and PassagePoint Visitor Management System are required. •Provide technical assistance in the area of servers and LAN operations and administration are highly desirable. - Oversee the deployment, installation, configuration and testing of Local Area Network (LAN), Cisco firewall, Domain Name Server (DNS), security software packages and mobile technologies related to Physical Access Control Network. •Collect various statistics on the performance and reliability of server systems and produce pertinent reports. •Respond to requests from users’ offices and assist in deploying/configuring systems following established infrastructure standards. •Ensure data security and integrity; perform system backup, plan and review the disaster recovery and business continuity process. - Prepare, update and maintain systems’ documentations and related technical/procedural manuals. - Provide guidance to new/junior staff. - Perform ad hoc and/or other related duties as and when required.

•Technological Awareness: Keeps abreast of available technology; understands applicability and limitation of technology to the work of the office; actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks; shows willingness to learn new technology.

Education Completion of high school or equivalent diploma, with combination of certification and experience in a relevant area is required. University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, Mathematics, Statistics or other related field is highly desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Information and Communications Technology or a related area is required. Experience in the following applications CCURE Access Control System, Nextiva CCTV System and PassagePoint Visitor Management System are required. 5 years of experience in designing, installing and troubleshooting of LAN, Cisco network equipment, firewall and Windows servers is highly desirable. A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in vendor relationship and contract management is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Thai language is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
