The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally, through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.

The Core Infrastructure Services is a unit for global architecture and engineering in UNICEF. Cloud Infrastructure and On-Premises Architecture are one of the most critical organizational IT systems of the unit’s portfolio. The position is under the supervision of the ICT Officer (Core Services).

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the ICT Officer (Core Services), the incumbent will support the operational implementation of UNICEF's Hybrid Enterprise Management Systems covering the following areas: Server Monitoring and Management such as Azure Arc, SolarWinds, Configuration Management, Modern Desktop Administration, Update and Software Distribution with tools such as Microsoft Intune, Ivanti and WSUS; Capacity and Performance Reporting for Servers such as Azure Monitor and Azure Health Agent; SolarWinds and other back-end services that will contribute monitor and manage UNICEF' s Global Hybrid Information Technology Infrastructure.

The incumbent is expected to apply operating policies and procedures for Hybrid Enterprise Management Systems across UNICEF' s IT Infrastructure and other technologies described herein, as well as collaborating in continuous improvements for operational effectiveness and efficiency.

Key responsibilities:

1. Acting as a CORE IT Services Associate, be a Subject Matter Expert for various systems and technologies around Hybrid Enterprise Management Systems. This includes configuration, monitoring, attend to events and notifications about the backend Enterprise Management System applications as well as collaborate in maintenance and updating them as part of the ongoing support.

2. In collaboration with various Service Owners, Application Managers, System Administrators and Core IT Services Peers provide expertise in defining and implementing operations monitoring environments for each IT production service within UNICEF' s Global Hybrid (on-prem and cloud) IT infrastructure.

3. Manage and support UNICEF's Hybrid Enterprise Management Systems, including production and test environments. Help maintain the integrity and availability of this global mission critical service. Interact with Release, Problem, Change Management, Service Level Management functions and client application’s SMEs to ensure the smooth roll-out of enterprise applications. Ensure timely resolution of issues arising from change implementation related to systems under their scope are addressed effectively and/or escalated timely.

4. Provide operations-level support and training to stakeholders of systems within the scope of Hybrid Enterprise Management System, Client and Server Operating Systems. Interact with staff, consultants and vendors operating within these roles. Jointly with supervisor, periodically review processes, operational guidelines and policies and collaborate in their enhancement and up-to-datedness. Take ownership of events, tasks, provide feedback on assigned tasks, and implement actions to complete activities timely.

5. Effectively liaise with peers, internal partners and external vendors on products and support. This includes product upgrades, technical support, maintenance of existing systems and other related operational matters.

6. General Duties. Perform any other duties and assignments as determined by the ICT Officer Core Services.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A secondary degree (High School Diploma or equivalent) is required, with university level courses in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent qualification.
  • Industry Certifications and/or Proven applied working experience in Enterprise Management applications such Azure Arc, SolarWinds, Configuration Management, Modern Desktop Administration, Update and Software Distribution with tools such as Microsoft Intune, Ivanti and WSUS; Performance Reporting for Servers such as Azure Monitor and Azure Health Agent.

  • Recent Training in or knowledge of appropriate disciplines, including server operating systems, networking, and network protocols. Computer related certifications an asset.

  • A minimum of 7 years practical work experience in information technology, of which two (2) years must be directly involved in the administration of a production Enterprise Management Systems using MS Windows, Modern Desktop Administration, Active Directory GPOs, Azure AD, Azure Infrastructure, Intune, Configuration Manager, WSUS and/or relevant technologies.
  • Practical experience automating IT tasks required. Practical experience with Powershell preferred.
  • Strong expertise in Desktop and Server Operating Systems, in particular Windows 10/11.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) is an asset.
