Overview

Provide ICT support and services for UNICEF MENARO operations.

You have:

  • Experience providing ICT Help Desk support to end-users on IT products, services, and applications.
  • Ability to provide video conferencing support (Zoom, MS Teams) with flexibility for outside meetings/events.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows systems (Win10/11) and Office 365 Apps.
  • Overall knowledge in computer networks.
  • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work with minimum supervision and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners.

Contract

This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

This UNV assignment will be delivered within UNICEF MENARO ICT section, and will support: 1. Help Desk function. 2. Office ICT systems and network infrastructure 3. Share point (Enterprise Content Management), MS Power Platform 4. Online meeting (Teams and Zoom)

Under the direct supervision of ICT Specialist, the UN Volunteer will: • Provide timely and effective end-user ICT support to MENARO staff members. • Assist in resolving day to day hardware/software problems. • Provide onsite & offsite ICT support to UNICEF events and meetings. • Contribute to the implementation and deployment of new ICT projects/rollouts. • Assist in keeping ICT records up to date. • Support ECM and Power platform • Maintain and test the office meeting rooms AV setup • Assist with DRP failover tests • Any other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Information and Communication Technology; experience at the national and/or international level. Working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset • Systematic methods of troubleshooting and problem solving • Demonstrated experience in: • Providing ICT Help Desk support to end-users on IT products, services, and applications. • Video conferencing support (Zoom, MS Teams) with flexibility to provide technical support for outside meetings/events. • Windows systems (Win10/11) and Office 365 Apps. • Overall knowledge in computer networks. • Task oriented approaches with clear ideas and creative solutions • Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills. • Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development. • Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; • Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines. • Sound security awareness; • Have affinity with or interest in working for children, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.

Amman, the capital, is a peaceful city with over four million residents. People are friendly to visitors. Services in terms of banking, transportation, health and communications are easily available. Though Arabic is the official language, English is widely spoken among the majority of the population, especially in Amman. Road network is good both in terms of spread and quality of the roads. Public transportation in Amman is limited. Taxis are relatively cheap and easily available. There are a number of shopping malls, restaurants, gyms, and cinemas. A large variety of accommodation options can be found; however, it is worth noting that prices in Amman have generally increased in the past few years. There are no specific security threats. Amman is a very easy city in which to live; large, many amenities, very modern and serviced by an international airport with direct flights to most capital cities. According to the assessment of the UN Department of Safety & Security (UNDSS) Jordan is a family duty station (category A hardship). As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. National UN Volunteers are part of the insurance plan.
