JOB TITLE: Senior Health and Nutrition Officer TEAM/PROGRAMME: Health & Nutrition LOCATION: Baghlan province GRADE: officer Contract Length: Fixed Term 6 months CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: The Project Officer will support the implementation of MHNT and fixed health facility levels across the EAST region and work to support continuous clinical implementation of service delivery through provision of technical support and conducting health and nutrition training and on the Job Coaching of the project staff in this role. The postholder will support the Emergency Response Coordinator in successful implementation of the projects including aggregating reports, follow up on data gaps from the MHTs and fixed health facility sites, among others. The role will be expected to spend 80% of their Level of Effort working at MHT and Fixed Facility level.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Implementation 1. Lead field level implementation of Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams 2. Conduct training need assessment, prepare and deliver trainings outlined on TNA for the Mobile health and nutrition team staff 3. Follow up of referred cases by IMHNTs with hospital to ensure that they have proper secondary medical care 4. Identify and report immediately any medical or administrative problems that may interfere in achieving programme objectives. 5. Oversee implementation of clinical standards adherence during consultations. 6. Oversee malnutrition management protocols for both under-five children, pregnant and lactating women including IYCF. 7. Organize community awareness raising campaigns on health seeking behaviour issues in close collaboration with community elders, health Shuras and BPHS NGO staff 8. Meet regularly with beneficiary communities and leaders, to ensure project effectiveness and community involvement in decision making on INMNT services 9. Provide joint supportive supervision to project sites, on the job training to IMHNT staff and undertake regular joint monitoring of the project activities 10. Perform any other task relevant to the scope of work as assigned by the line manager 11. Ensure training for all Health and nutrition promoter 12. Compile and generate the training reports conducted in provinces. 13. Work closely with the Save the children program teams, including other sectors, to develop applicable materials on child rights, child protection, participation, health education, environmental protection etc.

Child Safeguarding • Ensure that all beneficiaries of your program are receiving ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct. • Report any Child Safeguard and/or PSEA cases if encountered.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Essential  Graduated from recognized medical faculty with two years of experience in health and nutrition project management.  Medical Diploma (MD) with previous experience of working in the Health and Nutrition projects at least for 2 years  Familiarity with HMIS/Nutrition online databases of MoPH will be an asset  Good knowledge and experience of Project Management skill including basic administration and management.  Good knowledge and experience of Health and nutrition training delivery.  A thorough understanding of project cycle management, especially M&E processes, and reporting -  Excellent reputation/well-known

Additional job responsibilities The duties and responsibilities set out above are not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to carry out additional duties from time to time which are reasonable in relation to their level of skills and experience.
