Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the incumbent performs a variety of specialized tasks in routine finance and accounting functions for the Senegal Country Office (SCO) & West Central Africa Regional Offices (WCARO), as well as in support of programme activities relevant to Direct Cash Transfers.

III. Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks

  • Responsible for supplier payment initiation: Ensures accuracy and completeness of information required by GSSC, submits and tracks payment requests to GSSC. Communicates with the GSSC, if necessary, to provide additional information or clarification. Monitors the status of submitted payment requests until completion. Follows up with the GSSC when a request is in progress and beyond the deadline/SLA period.
  • Tracks and records all receipts (DCT reimbursement, PSB sales and staff reimbursement) in Vision, creates reimbursement receipts in Vision and follows up until liquidation. Ensures the proper filing of vouchers with supporting documents in accordance with organizational standards.
  • As interim petty cash custodian, issues payments based on duly approved vouchers and appropriate supporting documents. Maintains cash books, including controlling disbursements and balancing books and ledgers. Assists in the preparation of monthly prepaid bank card statements.
  • Releases checks to recipient upon presentation of appropriate identification; assures that checks are signed for. Takes on PV/wire role in absence of colleague.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education: Completion of secondary education. Completion of certificate level accounting courses and knowledge of IPSAS is desirable; A University degree in finance/accounting or professional accounting accreditation is highly desirable.

Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible general accounting clerical experience.

Language Requirements: Fluency in French and good working knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of the local language is an asset.
